Councilmen present Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, and Bird. Minutes of regular meeting of April 17, 1934, read and approved. G. W. Simpson was present regarding position as Boiler Inspector. Matter laid over until next meeting. °Report of City Treasurer for Quarter ending March 31, 1934, presented and ordered filed. DReport of City Clerk for Quarter ending March 31, 1934, presented and ordered filed. 2Water reports from the Health Dept. presented and ordered filed. °Communication from War Department regarding installation of a mooring in San Diego Bay, read and ordered filed. City Clerk, Dale Smith requested the City Council the services of C. R. Linn as Deputy Assessor for about ten days at $5.00 per day. Moved by [Varner, seconded by Kilcrease, that the request be granted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the dues for the calendar year 1934 to the League of California Municipalities be paid. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Request for tax refund by b. F. Todd, laid over until the next meeting. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that the Council accept the findings of the Planning Commission upon the petition of T. G. Cozine. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. °RESOLUTION NO. 1738, Resolution granting T. G. Cozine permission to erect a certain structure in "Zone R-2", was read. Moved by Warner, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Aves: Councilmen Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, and Bird. Nays: Council- men, none. 141. Moved by Warner, seconded by Kilcrease, that Lewis R. Aldrich, Street Supt. be designated as the person to represent the City in the State Employment Relief Administration. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Warner, seconded by Cordingly, that the offer of -t-x the Bowman Motor Co., to furnish two Ford Tudor Sedans V8 in accordance with their communication of April 23, 1934, be accepted as follows: that the City of National City rent from the bowman Motor Co. said cars for months of May and June, 1934. That the rental price be $141.82 for May, and $117.84 for June, and that the new contract for purchase of said cars be submitted subsequent to July 1, 1934, and if a contract is entered into, the rental hereinbefore mentioned be applied upon the purchase price. Carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, and Bird. Nays, Councilmen, none. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the "ity purchase two Philco radios from Nelson -Smith, to be installed in said cars. Carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, and Bird. Nays: Council- men, none. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that the City purchase a Philco radio from Nelson -Smith, to be installed in Harry McCue's car. Carried by the following vote: Ayes; Councilmen Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, and Bird. Nays: Councilmen, none. J. A. Isaacson, City Attorney, presented RESOLUTION NO. 1739, to the City Council, which is as follows: °RESOLUTION NO. 1739 RESOLUTION AMENDING IN CERTAIN RESPECTS RESOLUTION N0. 1737. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City, California, that Resolution No. 1737 entitled "Resolution Appointing Certain Officers and Employees of the City of National City, California, and Fixing Compensation", adopted the 17th day of April, 1934, be and the same is hereby amended as follow: That the Compensation of the Chief of Police of the City of National City, be changed to and it is hereby fixed in the 142. sum of $165.00 per month; That the compensztion of the Police Officers acting as Traffic Policemen, of the City of National City, be changed to and it is hereby fixed in the sum of $140.00 each per month. This is understood to apply to the offices to which LLOYD LOVELL and RICHARD VAN DERIPE were appointed; That all other provisions of said Resolution No. 1737 be and the same are hereby ratified and confirmed. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Kilcrease, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, and Bird. Nays: Council- men, none.
