Carried. Chauncey A. Noble was present regarding his salary for November 1931. Matter laid over until next meeting. °Communication from Guy & Guy regarding insurance on Fire Trucks. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that the Polices be accepted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. DCommunication from the National City Chamber of Commerce honorary: inviting each of the City Councilmen to become a/member of the board. Moved by Warner, seconded by Thatcher, that the Council accept. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Petition from the tax payers regarding signs on National Avenue near First Street. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the City request Foster & Kleiser Co. to set the signs further back. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. 0 Communication from the State Emergency Relief Adminstration 144. regarding demobilization of the Emergency Educational program, read and ordered filed. J. E. Blackman was present and requested the City Council to reduce his tideland rental from '50.00 to $10.00 per month for one year. Matter laid over until the next meeting. 0 Communication from Wilson -Roosevelt Veterans Democratic Club, asking the removal of the assistant City Treasurer and a qualified war veteran be appointed to fill the vacancy, read and ordered filed. vCommur_ication from League of California Municipalities regarding Unemployment Relief -SERA. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be endorsed. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. o Communication from California Sewage Works Association regarding Spring Conference, read and ordered filed. °Communication from A. L. Beatty regarding insurance, read and ordered filed. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Kilcrease, that a tax refund of $1.48 be mad e to B. F. Todd. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. b Communication from Division of Highways regarding report for maintenance of Highway No. 2, read and ordered filed. ;Report of City Court for month of April, 1934, read and ordered filed. °Report of Supt. of Streets, Lewis R. Aldrich, on the SERA, read and ordered filed. 1'Report of Lewis R. Aldrich, Bldg. Inspector, for month of April, 1934, read and ordered filed. ORDINANCE NO. , amending Ordinance No. 538, relating to assessment levy and collection of taxes was read. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the Ordinance be introduced and laid over, under the rules and according to law. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. 117 Report of audit from Wansley, Crandell & Reuter, presented. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Kilcrease, that the report be accepted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Application from Grant C. Raybould for permission from the City Council to operate a card game at the "Lark", 1611 National Avenue, read. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Warner, that the application be referred to Legslie E. Knapp, Chief of Police. Carried, all Councilmen voting aye. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that Lloyd Bates be appointed as Deputy Street Supt. and Deputy City Clerk, for the purpose of issuing Sewer, Gas, and Plumbing Permits; Also that Ray Amos be appointed Deputy Bldg. & Electrical Inspector, for the purpose of issuing Building and Electrical permits. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Warner, seconded by Thatcher, that the request of Mrs. E. P. Mulvey be granted, to have the telephone at the Health Center listed under the name of Casa de Salud. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Kilcrease, that the list of supplies for the Swimming Pool be purchased by the Purchasing Agent. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Warner, seconded by Kilcrease, that the proper Officers be authorized to make the following transfers: $600.00 from Library Fund to General Fund 450.00 from Pound Fund to General Fund 200.00 from Engineering Fund to General Fund 100.00 from Planning Commission Fund to General Fund. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that the Office of Street Supt. be declared vacant. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Cordingly, Kilcrease, Warner, and Bird. Nays: Councilman Thatcher. Absent: Councilmen, none. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that Floyd Finnerty be appointed Superintendent of Streets, starting May 7, 1934, at $115.00 per month, working six days a week. Carried by the follow- ing vote: Ayes: Councilmen Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, and Bird. Nays: Councilmen, none. Lesliec E. Knapp, Chief of Police, was present and requested that the City furnish gasoline for the Police Dept. until the City -owned cars arrive. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that the request be granted. Carried, all Councilmen present vot- ing aye. Lewis R. Aldrich requested that he be granted two weeks pay. 146. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that the request be granted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting ave. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that Floyd Finnerty, heretobefore appointed Street Supt. commence his duties on May 2, 1934, instead of May 7, 1934 as stated in the motion hereinbefore made. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. t RESOLUTION NO. 1740, a Resolution authorizing and directing Ilya Harbison to represent the City in the State Employment Relief Administration. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Warner, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, a11`Coun_cilmen present voting aye. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that the Council adjourn. Carried.
