O Communication from Consoer, Townsend, Older, and Quinlan regarding Municipal Ownership of water system read and ordered filed. a, Communication from table read and referred Communication from E.J.Farrell regarding license for card to the Police F.W.James Dept. regarding removal and replanting of palms, read. Moved by Warner, seconded by Thatcher, that his request be allowed. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. 176. oCom unication from Sunset Pacific 0i1 Co. regarding lease was read. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner that lease be -/ .05 ^at $ 25,00 per calendar month, payable quarterly in advance. Carried. °Communication from Irene G. Wessink requesting leave of absence. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Kilcrease that request be allowed. Carried. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Thatcher, that tax refund of John A. Torigian be granted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Communication from the Paradise Valley Sanitarium regarding street light read and approved. "Communication from the Dept. of Public Works regarding the dyke road read ana ordered filed. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, to waive penalities and accept checks dated Oct.31, 1934, on delinquent taxes. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, to accept Isms. Helen Johnson as deputy City Clerk to serve duffing Irene Wessink's leave of absence. Salary to be u 75.00 per month. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Warner, seconded by Cordingly, to accept Martin Fernberg, as Traffic Officer, to serve during the absence of 4z7o000Pu Officer Richard VanDeripe4 Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that Asa Webb's request for an assistant at $ 60.00 per month be granted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. ° Report of City Court for month of October read, and ordered filed. °Petition to abate nuisance on McKinley Ave., read and referred to Police Department. !(Report of Police Dept. for month of October read and ordered filed. 177. °Report of Fire Dept. for the month of October read and ordered filed. Report of the Fire Marshall for the Month of October read and ordered filed. e Annual report of the Health Dept. read and ordered filed. Councilman Cordingly reported on the Paradise Valley Sanit- arium request for street light. Ivloved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the S.D.Cons. Gas& Light Co. be notified of the request. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Judge Ira Harbison reported on matter regarding a traffic officer at shhool crossings. Matter referred to S. E. R. A. F.W.James brought up the proposition of beautification of parkways on National and Highland Avenues. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that the City Council co-operate with the Chamber of Commerce in this project. Carried. Moved by Warner, seconded by Kilcrease, that the proper Officers be authorized to make the following transfers: $ 2710.55 from the Spec. Del. Tax Fund to Sinking Fund # 6. 933.72 from the Spec. Del. Tax Fund to Sinking Fund # 4. tr-wf o Notice Inviting Sealed proposal% ea and and or ordered filed. RESOLUTION # 1756- Authorizing payment of Interest Coupons to the amount of $ 2725.00, from Sinking Fund # 6, was read. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Warner to accept the resolution, Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. ® RESOLUTION # 1757- Authorizing payment of Interest Coupons to the amount of 0 930.00, from Oinking Fund # 4, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher to accept the resolution Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. B.RESOLUTION # 1758- directing Notice Inviting Sealed Pro- posals, Lighting Dist. # 1. read. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by \Varner to adopt the besolution. Carried by the following vote to wit: 178 Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird. Nays: Councilmen, none. Absent: Councilmen, none.
