Regular meeting of City Cbuncil called to order by the Mayor.
Councilmen present, Pettit, Thatcher, Waddell, and Requa. Council-
man Wade absent.
Minutes of regular meeting of November 21, 1933 read and
approved.

Moved by Pettit, seconded by Thatcher, that the bills be
allowed and Warrants ordered drawn for same. Carried, all Council-
men present voting aye.
°Mr. H. P. Sbheuerman was present regarding public liability
and property damage insurance. Matter laid over until next meeting.
°Communication from H. A. Barnes regarding Fire Ordinance,
read and ordered filed. City Clerk was requested to send Mr.
Barnes copy of Fire Ordinance.
°Communication from National School District regarding grade
on Lanoitan Street in front of Lincoln Acres School building was

read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Thatcher, that the City
Engineer and City Attorney be instructed to prepare an Ordinance
establishing a grade on Lanoitan Street. Carried.
°Communication from Navy Dept. regarding permission to deposit
material on lands South of Boundry fence of Kelco Plant, was read.
Moved by Pettit, seconded by Thatcher that the permission be granted.
Carried.
°Communication from Chief of Police, L. E. Knapp, recommending
Beverage License be granted New Asia Cafe, was read. Moved by
Pettit, seconded by Waddell, that the license be granted. Carried.
°Communication from Edward Kramer requesting license to operate
Cafe with dancing privileges, was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded
by Pettit, that the application be granted Mr. Kramer to operate
said cafe. Carried.
°Application of Menton C. McDaniel for license to operate one
pool table and one card table at 1820 Taft Avenue, was read. Moved
by Waddell, seconded by N3ttit, that the said license be granted.
Carried.
°Communication from Mrs. Mamie H. Tinkler requesting refund on
tax=exemption to the amount of $17.40, was read. Moved by Thatcher,
seconded by Pettit, that the refund be allowed. Carried, all Hbuncil-
men present voting aye.
°Communication from Harry Goldfarb requesting refund to the
amount of $17.40 on tax exemption was read. Moved by Pettit, seconded
by Waddell, that the request be granted. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.
°Matter of insurnace on equipment in City Hall laid over, pending
inventory of same.
°Report of Building Inspector for monti of November, 1933 read
and ordered filed.
°Report of City Court for month of November, 1933, read and
ordered filed.
`Matter of personal property assessment of Clara Banke Lightfoot
laid over until next meeting.
°Building Inspector reported that would advise no change in the
Building Code. Report accepted by the Coundil.

°Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Waddell, that the City
Attorney be instructed to re -write the Tax Ordinance with
ammendments. Carried.
°Councilman Pettit excused.
'Ordinance No. ,'ammnnding Ordinance No. 628, relating
to installation of Sewers, was introduced and laid over, under
the rules and according to law, on motion by Waddell, seconded by
Thatcher. Carried.
°Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Waddell, that a letter of
condolence be written to the City of Cbronado on the death of their
Mayor. Carried.
'Building Inspector Aldrich requested change in Building Code,
in the amount of fees to be collected, for constructions valued
from $50.00 to $100.00. bved by Thatcher, seconded by Waddell,
that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare an Ordinance,
amending the Building Cede as outlined by the Building Inspector.
Carried.
°Moved by Waddell, seconded by Thatcher, that the following
projects to be submitted to the Civil Works Administration be
approved:
1. Improvement of 18th Street
2. Improvement of Park Grounds
3. 16th St., Palm to Orange
4. "L" Ave., 4th to 6th Sts.
5. First St., McKinley to Garfield
6. 20th St., Nat'l to "B" Ave.
7. "F" Ave., at 26th St.
8. Lanoitan Ave., 16th to 24th Sts.
9. Painting 10 school bungalows . Motion carried.
°Moved by Waddell, seconded by Thatcher, that the certified
copy of decision No. 26593 of the Railroad Commission of State of
Cklifornia on Water Hearing be accepted and ordered filed. Carried.
°Moved by Waddell, seconded by Thatcher, that the -City Attorney
J. A. Isaacson be allowed extra compensation on Water Hearing to the
amount of $350.00, to be paid out of General Fund. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
"Moved by Waddell, seconded by Thatcher that the salary of J. A.
Isaacson, City Attorney, be raised from-$112.50 to $175.00 per
month,• effective immediately, to be paid from the Salary Fund.
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Waddell, that the Council adjourn.
Carried.
