Regular meeting of the

City Council was called to order by the
Pettit, Thatcher, Wade, Waddell, and Roque.
Minutes of the regular meeting of June 6, 1933, wermread and
approved.

Moved by Pettit, seconded by Thatcher,that the bills
be allowed and
Warrants ordered drawn for same. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
Mr. MacDonald of Sweetwater Union High School present representing
Kiwanis Club, presenting request for playground director, total
expenditure to be not more than $100.00.
°Communication from Paul L. Jonas regarding position as play-
ground director was read. Moved by Pettit, seconded by Thatcher that
Paul L. Jones be employed as playground director at $40.00 per month
for two months, said salary to be paid out of the General Fund. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
Moved by Pettit, seconded by Wade, that a fund of $20.00 be set
aside for playground expenses, said fund to be drawn from the General
Fund. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
°Communication from George E. Burnham regarding Connally Amendment
read and ordered filed.
°Communication from Senator McAdoo regarding Conally Amendment
read and ordered filed.
'Communication from Legislative Committee of the League of
Municipalities regarding Amendment No. 16 read and ordered filed.

*Communication from California State Chamber of Commerce re-
garding projects for National Industrial Recovery Act, read and
ordered filed.
o Communication from D. N. Shepley requesting license to sell
Beverages in Original Containers, was read. Moved by Wade, seconded
by Pettit, that the license be granted. Carried.
o Petition of property owners to have name of Hoover Avenue
changed to Lincoln Avenue was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by
Thatcher, that petition be filed. Carried.
°Resignation of Irene Wissink as Deputy City Treasurer, was read.
Moved by Waddell, seconded by Wade, that resignation be accepted. Carried
o RESOLUTION NO. 1709, confirming appointment of Irene G. Wissink
as Deputy City Clerk, was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Pettit,
that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
o Report of City Engineer on National City Lighting District No. 1,
was presented and ordered filed.
° RESOLUTION NO. 1710, fixing time of hearing of protests to
Engineer's Report on National City Lighting District No. 1, was read.
Moved by Waddell, seconded by Thatcher that the Resolution be adopted/
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
o ORDINANCE NO. 627, prohibiting distribution of hand bills was
placed on final passage. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Wade,
that the Ordinance be adopted. Carried by the following vote: ayes
Councilmen Pettit, Wade, Waddell, Requa. Noe Councilman Thatcher.
'Matter of appointment of member off committee to work with Board
of Supervisors on project to be submitted to Washington was taken up.
Moved by Waddell, seconded by Thatcher, that Mayor Requa be appointed
to act on this Committee. Carried.
°Moved by Waddell, seconded by Thatcher, that Cliff Lewis and
Robert Milligan be appointed Special Police Officers for Ball Park
during games, to serve without pay. Carried.
Cancellation of taxes on property deeded to County of San Diego
by Frank E. White and Addie M. White was taken up. Moved by Wade,
seconded by Thatcher, that request for cancellation of delinquent taxes

on property described as the Si of WI of El, 80 Acre Lot 2, * Section
130, Nat'l Ro. be granted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
°RESOLUTION NO. 1711, providing that whenever the time fixed for
holding regular Council meeting falls upon legal holiday, meeting to
be held on next business day, was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded
by Pettit, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.
°RESOLUTION NO. 1712, ordering Mayor and City Clerk to enter into
contract employing Frank Simmonds for appraising and valuing lands and
property of the Sweetwater Water Corp. was read. Moved by Wade,
seconded by Thatcher, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
°RESOLUTION NO. 1713, ordering the Mayor and City Clerk to enter
into contract with John F. Covert for purpose of furnishing Engineering
advice, was read. Moved by Wade, seconded by Thatcher, that the
Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
°Moved by Waddell, Seconded by Wade, that proper Officers be
authorized to transfer $300.00 from the General Fund to Police Fund.
Carried.
Moved by Pettit, seconded by Thatcher, that proper Officers be
authorized to transfer $500.00 from the General Fund to the Light and
Water Fund. Carried.
°Moved by Pettit, seconded by Wade that Sewer Ordinance be laid
over until next meeting. Carried.
Moved by Waddell, seconded by Thatcher, that the Council adjourn.
