Regular meeting of the City Council called to order by
the Mayor. Councilmen present, Cordingly, Dawson, Waddell,
Wade, and Requa.
Minutes of meeting of April 18, 1932, read and approved.
,The Mayor then announced the Standing Committees as follows:
Finance Committee, Councilmen Dawson, Waddell and Wade; Streets
and Public -Property, Councilman Wade; Park Committee, Councilman
Cordingly; Fire Committee, Councilman Dawson; Police Committee,
Councilman Waddell; Health Committe, Councilmen Cordingly and
Wade

Moved by Waddell, seconded by Dawson, that the bills be allowed and
Warrants ordered drawn for same. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
.Mr. Molitor was present requesting permission to conduct
a Walkathon Marathon. After considerable discussion the matter
was laid over until the next meeting.
.Judge Harbison requested a leave of absence from May 13,
to 22, 1932, inclusive. Stated that Judge Howell would take
care of the court at no additional cost. Moved by Cordingly,
seconded by Waddell that the request be granted. Carried.
,Communication from C. B. Kellar protesting against the
granting of permission to conduct a Walkathon Marathon was
read and ordered filed.
,Communication from Wm. J. Locke requesting the City
Council to request Mr. Mitchell, President of the League of
California Municipalities to serve written charges against Mr.
Locke, not later than August 25, 1932, wad read and laid over
till the 2nd meeting in May.
.Communication from R. T. Vaughn of Dulzura, presenting
his name for appointment of Chief of Police was read. Moved by
Waddell, seconded by Wade that the communication be filed.
Carried.
,Communication from J. L. Delatour requesting refund of
deposit of $20.00 for removal of trees at 1240 East 24th Street
was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Wade that the proper ,
officers draw a Warrant on the General Fund in favor of J. L.
Delatour for $20.00. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
.Communication from Philip Scheuerman regarding insurance
on Fire Apparatus was 'read and referred to the Finance Committee
with -Power to act.
,Report of the Health Officer for year 1930, 1931 was read
and ordered filed.

,DecisidnnNo. 24227, of the Railroad Commission of the
State of California, in the matter of the application of the San
Diego Electric Railroad Company regarding certain changes, etc.,
was presented and ordered filed.
.City Attorney reported that the hearing of the Water
Controversy had been set for May 13, 1932, and that he had
received communication from Attorney Cosgrove stating that his
would be in court at Los Angeles beginning April 18th, and the
case would probably take a month, and assumed that a continuation
had been asked.
,Bond of City Clerk Mullen was presented. Moved by Waddell,
seconded by Cordingly that the Bond be approved, accepted and
ordered filed. Carried.
.Estimate of bleachers at the Night Ball Park as follows:
8 ft. long by 5 ft. high, at $12.50 per section, 200 ft. of
fence about $25.00. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Dawson, that
a sum not to exceed 5200.00 be appropriated from the Park Fund
for improvement at the Night Ball Ground. Carried, all Council-
men present voting aye.
.Matter of K Avenue improvement was continued.
,Permission was asked for use of the Night Ball Ground by
the National City Junior High School and the Escondido nigh
School before beginning of the regular schedule. Permission
was granted.
.Fire Chief reported condition of building on 8th Avenue
as being unsafe. The Mayor appointed the Fire Committee as
head of Committee to investigate matter.
,A. B. Kimball was present regarding drainage on 18th
Street and N Avenue. Matter referred to the Street Committee to
report on at the next meeting.
Moved by Waddell, seconded by Dawson that the Council
adjourn. Carried.
