Councilmen present- Cordingly, Waddell, Wade and Requa. Councilman Dawson late. Minutes of regular meeting of July 19, 1932, read and approved. Carried, all Councilmen present advertising in Souvenir Program for Firemen's Convention was laid over. ,Communication from Clinton Davidson regarding Communist's literature on display in National City Library was read and referred to the Library Board. .Communication from Glens Falls Indemnity Company regarding bond of John Hansen, sidewalk builder, was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Cordingly, that the City Clerk be instructed to write 9. them stating that they would be released from future liability from July 23rd. Carried. .Communication from J. H. Johnson, County Assessor, showing valuations for the years 1931 and 1932, and asking that copy of City assessed valuations for sane period be mailed him, was read and ordered filed, and the Clerk instructed to answer same. .Communication from County League of Municipalities stating that the meeting would be held in La Mesa, Friday, August 5th, was read and ordered filed. .Communication from Mayors, and Councilments Committee of the League of California Municipalities regarding re -organization of present League, was read and laid over. .Communication from League of California Municipalities regarding convention in San Diego, Sept. 26 to 29th, was read and ordered filed. .Communication from Mrs. C. E. Broughton expressing apprecia- tion for assistance in making it easier for her to leave her home, was read and ordered filed. Communication from State Compensation Insurance Fund rejecting all liability for injury in case of Ray L. Amos, April 20, 1932, was read and laid over. .The following bids for the furnishing of -gasoline for the period of one year ware opened, examined and publicly declared: SHELL OIL COMPANY 15% per gallon. WILLIAM C. MCDUFFIE AS RECEIVER FOR RICHFIELD OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA. . 15% per gallon. STANDARD OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA . . current tank truck price at time and place of delivery. UNION OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA . . . . 15c per gallon. .Moved by Waddell, seconded by Wade, that the bids be laid over to the next meeting. Carried. .Report of the City Judge for month of July 1932, read and ordered filed. ,The matter of fire hydrant at Kelco Plant was laid over. - -' 10. .The Mayor stated he had interviewed the Mayor of Chula Vista regarding the $5,000.00 appropriation for harbor improve- ment, and that they would take the matter up to -day and decide as to what would be done, also stated he had interviewed Mr. Rufus Choate, member of the Harbor Committee of San Diego who was to find out how soon funds would have to be available, and suggested that the matter be laid over to the next meeting. 'ORII NANCE NO. , Adopting a Plasterer's Code, was taken up and referred to the City Attorney to prepare a new ordinance. ,RESOLUTION NO. 1685, Authorizing the City Attorney to appear in a certain action on behalf of the City of National City, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Dawson, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. 'The City Attorney was also authorized to appear for Mr. Requa personally, and Iir. Preston personally, so long as their interests do not clash with the City's. ,Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Dawson, that the sum of $745.99 be transferred from the General Fund to Sinking Fund No. 4, and that the sum of $228.93 be transferred from the General Fund to Sinking Fund No. 6, and the proper officers be instructed to make the necessary entries upon their records. Carried. ,The Mayor informed the Council that on Monday, August 8th, the Council would meet at 10:00 o'clock A. M. as a Board of Equali- zation.
