Regular meeting of the City Council called to order by the
Mayor. Councilmen present- Bird, Cordingly, Murray, Waddell, and
Requa.
Minutes of regular meeting of January 19, 1932, read and
approved.

Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray that the bills be allowed and
Warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
.Mrs. Morgan was present requesting that some work be done on
Newell Street South of 18th Street. Street Superintendent reported
it would take about 250 yards of dirt to make the fill and that
two houses would be below grade. Street Superintendent was instructed

to make road passable.
•Reverend Lawyer and Reverend Brown were present requesting that
the Council cancel the Dance Hall license issued to Paul Arrtblac
.Communication from the San Diego Consolidated Gas and
Electric Company stating that a reduction in rates for ornamentalstreet.
lights would be effective February 1, 1932,making a saving of
$9.90 per month, was read and ordered filed.
.The City Attorney was requested to represent the City at the
hearing before the Railroad Commission February 9, 1932 regarding
rates for the San Diego Consolidated Gas and Electric Company.
•Complaint of Julia Ely, 1612-5th Avenue against the Paul
Arriola Dance Hall at 7th Avenue and 18th Street was read and
ordered filed.
.Moved by Murray, seconded by Waddell,that the City Clerk
notify Paul Arriola to appear before the City Council at its
next meeting February 16th 1932 and show cause why number of
teachers or instructors should not be reduced to two, as provided
in Ordinance No. 612 and that permit heretofore granted by
City Council be amended accordingly. Carried.
.Report of the City Judge for the month of January 1932
was read and ordered filed.
-Report of the City Engineer on grade elevations on K Avenue
between 18th and 24th Streets based on a 60 foot street showing
excavations and embankment,also an estimate of cost at approx-
imately y$1.75 per front foot for grading and other improvements,
was read. Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that the City
Engineer submit the report to the property owners to see what
they wish to do. Carried.
.ORDINANCE NO. , an ordinance regulating the installation
of gas pipe and fixures and providing for inspection, was read.
Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that it be introduced and laid
over under the rules and according to law. Carried.

.The City Attorney was given further time regarding the
proposed "Gangsters' Registration Law."
.Communication from the International Pictorial Police
Journal,featuring the City and Police Departments in coming
issues, was read and ordered filed. -
•Moved by Murray, seconded by Waddell that the properi,officers
enter into a contract with the Electrical Products Corporation
for lease of Street Sign, exhibit "B", at a cost of $20.50 per
month for 36 months to be located on National Avenue. Carried,
by the following vote, Ayes, Councilmen Murray, Waddell and
Requa. Noes, Councilmen Bird and Cordingly.
Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly,that the Council adjourn.
