Mayor.

Moved by Dawson, seconded by Waddell, that the bills be allowed
and Warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Couhcilmen
present voting aye.

,Citizens were present requesting that the City request the
Railroad Commission for a reduction of 50% in water rates. Moved
by Cordingly, seconded by Wade, that the City Attorney. prepare a
Resolution asking that the Railroad Commission investigate water
rates in this City. Carried.
,Mr. Moeser was presdnt urging that Ordinance No. 606, regarding
Fire Works be amended or repealed. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by
Wade, that Ordinance No. 606 be repealed. Carried.
,Mr. Depall was present requesting permission to file a
bid for George Styalino for the exclusive contract to collect
garbage and refuse in the City. Moved by Dawson, seconded by Wade,
that it be laid on the table. Carried.
,Mr. Pender was present requesting a Street Light at 21st
Street and 7th Avenue. Moved by Cordingly, that the matter be re-
ferred to the Finance Committee. No Second. Moved by Dawson,
seconded by Waddell, that it be referred to the Street Department.'
Carried.
,A representative of the Disabled American Veterans was present
requesting a contribution in aid of the convention to be held in
San Diego from June 18th to 25th, 1932. Moved by Cordingly,
seconded by Dawson, that the request be denied. Carried.
,Mr. Ellis was present requesttngthat a plasterer's license
be enacted, requiring a fee of $25.00 per year. Referred to the
City Engineer to report on at next meeting with recommendations.
%Coammunication from Loma Lodge No. 159, R. of P., expressing
their appreciation for the use of facilities in the Park for
the Carnival was read and ordered filed.
Communication from the Hartford Accident and Indemnity
Company regarding bond of former Street Superintendent Hill was read.
Moved by Dawson, seconded by Wade, that the City Clerk be instructed
to notify them that Mr. Hill was no longer an employee of the City
and they would be released from any further liabilities from Mays
'5, 1932. Carried.

,Communication from the Sunset Pacific Oil Company regarding
contract for furnishing gasoline for one year was read. Moved by
Dawson, seconded by Waddell, that the City advertise for bids for
gasoline as per specifications furnished by the Fire Chief. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
,Communication from the Veteran's Welfare Board of Sacramento,
requesting cancellation of taxes on Lot 21, Block 4, National Avenue
Terrace, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Wade, that the
request be granted. Carried.
Communication from the Pacific News Bureau, San Francisco
regarding unemployment cost to the City was Read, and the City
Clerk instructed to answer questionnaire.
,Communication from the Secretary of the Library Board stating
that the term of office of Fanny J. Thelen, expires June 30, 1932,
and requesting her reappointment was read. Moved by Waddell,
seconded by Wade, that Mrs. Fanny J. Thelen be reappointed as a
member of the National City Library Board, effective July 1, 1932.
Carried.
,Report of the City Judge for the month of May, 1932 was read,
and ordered filed.
7/RESOLUTION NO. 1677, ascertaining per diem wages for cleaning
well, 40 Acre Lot 2, * Section 132, was read. Moved by Waddell,
seconded by Wade, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
RESOLUTION NO. 1678, requesting the Railroad Commission of the
State of California, to cause an investigation to be made into the
rates and charges for water now made by the Sweetwater Water Corporatio
was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Dawson, that the Resolution
be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
/RESOLUTIOI' NO. 1679, accepting deed of Southeastern California
Association of Seventh Day Adventists for land for street purposes
was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Cordingly, that the
Resolution be adopted. Carried.
,Report of City Engineer, National City Lighting District No. 1,
was presented and ordered filed.

✓RESOLUTION NO. 1680, appointing time and place for hearing
protests and directing Clerk to give notice of said hearing,
National City Lighting District No. 1, was read. LIoved by
Cordingly, seconded by Waddell, that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
,Street Committee reported that fence around Septic Tank
had been completed and that Seventh Avenue Bridge would be open
to traffic June 8, 1932.
,Moved by Dawson, seconded by Wade, that the City Clerk,
City Attorney and the Mayor prepare Resolutions and Ordinances
reducing salaries of employees Ten Percent with a few exceptions.
Carried.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Wade, that the Council adjourn.
Carried.
