Moved by Waddell, seconded by Dawson, that the bills be allowed and
Warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
,Communication from the Secretary of the San Diego County League
of Municipalities stating that the next'meeting would be in San Diego
was read and ordered filed.
,Communication from the Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company
regarding Bond of J. B. Fletcher side -walk builder was read. Moved
by Waddell, seconded by Wade, that the City Clerk notify the Hartford
Accident and Indemnity Company that Mr. Fletcher had not :renewed
future
his license and that they would be released from any/liabilities
after the termination of former license. Carried.
,Communication from Postmaster Eddy, requesting parking space
on A Avenue for use of Post Office Department was read. Moved by
Waddell, seconded by Wade that the Street Superintendent be instructed
to mark a 40 foot space to read "To be reserved for use of Post Office."
Carried.

.Communication from Raymond Hill regarding condition of 7th
Avenue bridge, fence around Septic Tank and Police Target Range
was read and ordered filed. Councilmen Wade stated that 7th Avenue
bridge had been closed to traffic.
.Communication from San Diego County Health Department regarding
danger at the Septic Tank and advising that a fence be built around
same was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Wade, that it be
referred to the Superintendent of Streets with power to act. Carried.
,Communication from Sam Schneider, 1933 D Avenue, regarding trees
being damaged was read. Superintendent of Streets reported that he
had investigated the matter and found same had been cut bly a boy and
had informed the parents that should trees not live, they would
be expected to replace same.
,Communication from Fire Marshall Bird requesting permission
to hire one vacation relief fireman for. two months at a salary
of $125.00 per month was read. Moved by Dawson, seconded by Waddell,
that the request be granted. Motion lost by the following vote.
Ayes, Councilmen Dawson and Waddell. Nays, Councilmen Cordingly,
Wade and Requa. After considerable discussion, it was moved by
Wade, seconded by Cordingly, that the matter of employing a relief
fireman be reconsidered. Carried. Moved by Cordingly, seconded
by Dawson,that the Fire Committee and Fire Chief be authorized to
expend $150.00 for relief fireman for vacation purposes. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
,Communication from W. D. Gardner, Chief of Police, requesting
the appointment of Walter E. Blake as a special officer without com-
pensation was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Wade, that the
request be granted. Carried.
,Report of the City Judge for the month of April, 1932 was read
and ordered filed.
,The Street Committee reported they had decided to remove
building on Lots 14, 15 and 16, Block 278 and salvage material
for use on 7th Avenue Bridge and other places as needed. Street
Committee reported they had received two bids for cleaning well
caused by Drainage on 18th Street and N Avenue, one of $198.00

which was considered too high,and Mr. Hall of El Cajon bid $75.00
agreeing to put well in working order; and advised :' that they
accept the bid of Mr. Hall. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Cordingly,
that the City enter into a contract with Mr. Hall to clean well
for $75.00. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
,Committee on playground given further time.
,City Engineer reported that the estimated cost of sewerage
in park and playground would be approximately $700.00. No action
taken.
,ORDINANCE NO.616, an ordinance declaring weeds, etc., to be
a public nuisance and providing for their removalywas placed on
final passage and on motion by Waddell, seconded by Wade, same
adopted by the following vote. Ayes, Councilmen Dawson, Waddell,
Wade and Requa. Nay, Councilman Cordingly.
,Bonds of Asa R. Webb, City Treasurer, and Lewis R. Aldrich
Superintendent of Streets were presented. Moved by Waddell,
seconded by Wade, that the bonds be approved accepted and ordered
filed. Carried.
RESOLUTION OF INTENTION No. 1676, National City Lighting
District No. 1, was read. Moved by Dawson, seconded by Wade,
that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
,Moved by Waddell, seconded by Dawson that all fees collected
by City Employees be deposited in the General Fund. Carried.
,Councilman Dawson stated that he had been in communication
with the County Welfare Commission and stated that 40 men of
National City were being employed in the park in San Diego, and
that if arrangements could be made so that National City would
cooperate with the County Welfare Commission these men could
be employed for work in National City. Moved by Dawson, seconded
by Wade, that the City be instructed to cooperate with the County
Welfare Commission regarding the employment of men, same to be
paid for by the County. Carried.
,The City Engineer reported that he was endeavoring to
secure a deed from the Paradise Valley Sanitarium for 30 feet

for Street purposes being an extensiorof Arcadia Avenue from
7th to 6th Street.
_City Engineer reported that he had all the data necessary
for establighing the Mean High Tide Line. Was instructed to
hold up work temporarily.
,The City Attorney reported that the hearing in the Water
Controversey would be reset to some time in September.
•The City Clerk requested the appointment of W. A. Mordhurst,
as Deputy Assessor without expense to the City. Moved by
Cordingly, seconded by Waddell, that the Council confirm the
appointment of W. A. Mordhurst as Deputy Assessor without expense
' to the City.
Moved by Waddell, seconded by Wade, that the Council adjourn.
Carried.
