the Mayor. Councilmen present- Waddell, Wade and Roque.
Councilmen Cordingly and Dawson absent.
Minutes of regular adjourned meeting of August 29, 1932
read and approved.

Moved by Vaddell, seconded by Wade, that the bills be
allowed and Warrants ordered drain for same. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
,Communication from the League of California LMunicipalities
with statement of dues for the year 1932 was read. Moved by
Waddell, seconded by 44ade, that the proper officers draw a
Warrant on the General Fund in favor of the League of California
18.
Municipalities for $60.00 in payment of the 1932 dues. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
,Resignation of J. M. Dawson as Councilman effective at once,
was read. Lioved by 4addell, seconded by ^lade, that the resignation
be accepted with regrets. Carried.
,Resignation of W. D. Gardner as Chief of Police effective at
once,was read. Loved by ^daddell, seconded by Wade, that the
resignation be accepted and that he be allowed one half months
salary,in addition to six days work, for vacation pay. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
,Moved by Waddell, seconded by Oade, that Leslie Knapp act as
Chief of Police at a salary of $25.00 per month effective September
7, 1932. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
,I,ioved by Waddell, seconded by "bade, that C. B. Ireland be
allowed one half months vacation pay. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
,Communication from Attorney Johnson W. Puterbaugh, regarding
Federal Gasoline Tax was read and ordered filed.
Report of the City Judge for the month of August 1932 was
read and ordered filed.
The following bid for Lighting District No. 1, was opened,
examined and publicly declared:
SAN DIEGO CONSOLIDATED GAS AND ELECTRIC COM?ANY
Total of all lamps for one year $891.60.
.RESOLUTION OF AWARD NO. 1688, awarding contract to the San
Diego Consolidated Gas and Electric Company for furnishing current
for National City Lighting District No. 1, was read. gloved by
Waddell, seconded by Nade, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
.Communication from J. A. Bird, Fire Chief, submitting proposed
budget in accordance vith the 18$ tax levy for year 1932-1933,
amounting to ;77,521.00, was read and ordered filed.
.Moved by Waddell, seconded by Wade, that all bids received
for furnishing gasoline for one year be rejected and the City Clerk -
instructed to return certified checks. Carried.

,Moved by Waddeli, seconded by Wade, that the office of Deputy
City Clerk occupied by Miss Margaret Eencini be discontinued,
effective September 30, 1932, she to be allowed two weeks vacation
pay. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
✓,ORDINA_ICE NO. 620, an ordinance fixing the Rate and Levying
the taxes for the fiscal year 1932-1933 at $1.74 per $100.00
valuation was placed on final passage and on motion by 'laddell,
seconded by Wade, same adopted, all Councilmen present voting aye.
Moved by Waddell, seconded by iiade,'that she Council adjourn.
Carried.
