Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. .Moved by Waddell, seconded by ;Made, that Frederick J. Thatcher be appointed City Councilman in place of J. M. Dawson, resigned. Carried. Mr. Thatcher ,;as then sworn in and took his place in the meeting. .Communication from the Kelco Company regarding hydrant at their plant 'as read and ordered filed. .Communication from the Automobile Club of Southern California regarding State Highway program was read and laid over till the next meeting. .Communication from the City Officials, members of the League of California Municipalities insistinb that Ur. Locke be given a hearing before the convention to be held in San Diego, September 26, to 29, 1932, was read and ordered filed. Mayor Requa is to be the representative at the League meeting with Counc _loran Ilade as alternate. ,Communication from the Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce stating that Santa Cruz nould invite the California League of Municipalities to hold their convention there the following year was read and ordered filed. Communication from S. M. Mann, member of the '.later Committee, asking that the City allow 50.00 towards the necessary expenses, etc., was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by .lade, that the City allow bills up to an amount not exceeding $50.00 for expense in Water Controversey. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. ,Communication from John Becker, Jr., Manager -rational City Ball Club, expressing their appreciation for condition of ball park was read and ordered filed. •Petition of Charles Powell for Pool Hall license at 1802-7th Avenue 7as read and referred to the Police Department. Resignation of Wm. Cordingly, effective October 1, 1932 was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Wade, that the resignation be accepted with regrets. Carried. ,Resignation of 0. Carried. ,Communication from the rational Surety Company regarding bond of Emil J. Berger, Master Plumber,stating that they desired to be relieved from future liability was read. Moted by Waddell, seconded'by Wade, that the City Clerk be instructed to notify the National Surety Company that they would be relieved from further liability on bond of Emil J. Berger,• effective September 20, 1932. Carried. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Wade, that the City Clerk be instructed to cancel -the U4.00 charge against W. D. Gardner, pool hall license of W. F. Ludington not paid. Carried. ,Bond of Frederick A. Wilkie, City Engineer eras presented. Moved by ''laddell, seconded by ';jade, that the bond be approved, accepted and ordered filed. Carried. ,Moved by Waddell, seconded by Wade, that the sun of 1400.00 be paid from the General Fund to Vance Clymer for playground expense. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. 22. •RESOLUTION NO. 168,9, authorizing payment of bonded indebtedness due September 15, 1932 amounting to $7,850.00, was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Wade, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. .The City Attorney stated it would be necessary to have a survey and photograph made of the extension of Fairmount Avenue to Division Street. Uoved by Waddell, seconded by ?lade, that the City Engineer make the necessary survey. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. •Moved by o1ade, seconded by Waddell, that Wm. Wellpot be appointed City Councilman effective October 1, 1932, in place of Wm. Cordingly. Carried. .The Mayor appointed Councilman Thatcher as Fire Commissioner and member Finance Committee. .The Mayor announced that a•meeting would be held next Friday night at the Sweetwater Union High School at 8:00 o'clock P. M. regarding Harbor Developement and that Congressmen Swing would be the principal speaker. Moved by Naddell, seconded by Wade, that the Council adjourn. Carried.
