Councilmen present- Bird, Cordingly, Murray, Waddell and Requa. Minutes of regular meeting August 4, 1931, read and approved. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. .Mr. R. Williams was present regarding drainage on East 8th Street. Moved by Murray, seconded by Waddell, that it be referred to the Street Department and City Engineer to furnish a solution and report on at next meeting. Carried. 208. ,Communication from Fred A. Ballin representing the Columbia Cement Company regarding cancellation of tide land lease was read and ordered filed. ,Report of the City Engineer on cost of sewer construction for portion of closed Seventh Avenue amouttipgto $565.11 was read and referred to the City Attorney. It now being the time set for opening bids for pavingpportions of Palm and Fairmont Avenues,wthe following bids were opened examined and publicly declared. T. B. Bonds of George S. Iverson and J. E. Miller, master plumbers were presented. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray that the bonds be approved, accepted and ordered filed. Carried. ✓RESOLUTION NO. 1656, authorizing payment of bonded indebted- ness due August 15, 1931 amounting to $3,250.00 was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray that the resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. ,Report of the City Engineer on bids for paving portions of Palm and Fairmont Avenues with Asphaltic Concrete and recommending that bids be rejected was read and ordered filed. Report of the City Engineer on bids for paving portions of Palm and Fairmont Avenues with Portland Cement Concrete and rec- ommending the acceptance of the bid of T. B. Penick and Sons was read and ordered filed. ,Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray that the bid for paving portion of Palm and Fairmont Avenues with Asphaltic Concrete be rejected. Carried. 'RESOLUTION OF AWARD NO. 1657, awarding contract for paving portions of Palm and Fairmont Avenues with Portland Cement Con- crete pavement was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Waddell that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. , ORDINANCE NO.' , an Ordinance fixing the rate and levying the taxes for the fiscal year 1931-1932 at $1.80 per one hundred dollar valuation, was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Murray that the ordinance be introduced and laid over under the rules and according to law. Carried. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Murray, that the Council adjourn.
