Cordingly that the bills be allowed and
warrants ordered drawn for same. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
.Mr. James Wilbur was present and requested some work be done
on East 18th Street. Referred to the Street Committee with a request
to make repairs or report at next meeting.

,Communication from the City Attorney, regarding the closing
of Portions of 26th Street was read and ordered filed.
,Communication from Mrs. C. G. Dunning requesting that closing
proceedings be started to close portions of 26th Street was read
and ordered filed.
'RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 16t10, to close a portion of 26th
Street was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Coburn that the
Resolution be adopted. Carried all Councilmen present voting aye.
.Communication from the San Diego County Welfare Commission
stating that property in the name of Corda had been deeded to the
County, January 22, 1930, and that in the name of Westcott, June
2, 1930, was read and ordered filed.
Communication from the National City Kiwanis Club thanking the
City Council for their efforts in making the Community Christmas
tree a success, was read and ordered filed.
,Communication from the San Diego Count Health Department
regarding the installation of a Sanitary Sewer System was read and
ordered filed.
,Communication from the Kenneth L. Blanchard Post 255 of the
American Legion regarding building site was read. The Mayor
appointed Councilmen Coburn, and Cordingly as a committee to meet
with Post No. 255 regarding the matter.
,The hour of 8:00 o'clock p. m. having arrived, the President
of the City Council stated that it was the time and place for hearing
objections for the proposed Sanitary Sewer System and asked if
anyone present desired to protest against the proposed improvement.
The City Clerk read the following protests: Luella S. Wallz, et al,
San Diego and Arizona Railway Company, and property owners in
district

affected, and filed his certificate. Moved by Coburn
by Cordingly that the protests be referred to the City
and the hearing be continued to January 20, 1931 at 8:00
o'clock p. m. Carried.
.The following bids for fire apparatus were opened, examined
and publicly declared:

-All bids were referred to the Sao Committee, Fire Chief, and
City Engineer to examine and report on at next meeting.
•Communication from Samuel Forsey, 1908 1V Avenue, City, regarding
conditions of street was read and referred to the Superintendent
of Streets.
.Communication from T. P. Griffith requesting refund of $20.00
deposit for removal of trees was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by
Coburn that the proper officers draw a warrant on the General Fund
for $20.00 in favor of T. P. Griffith. Carried, all Councilmen
voting aye.
.Request from Ella Ernst for refund of $15.00 deposit for
removal of trees was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Coburn

that the proper officers draw a warrantAfor $15.00 in favor
of Ella Ernst. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
•Communication from J. G. Pfanstiel regarding improvement
assessment on property in the name of Laurence H. Smith and
requesting refund of $9.65 was read. Moved by Cordingly,
seconded by Bird that the proper officers draw a warrant from
the General Fund in favor of Laurence J. Smith and J. G. Pfanstiel
for $9.65. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
.Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Coburn that the proper
officers draw a warrant on the general fund in favor of Mary
E. Benedict for $1.35, refund on overcharge on tax. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
.Petition of A. E. Upper for license to operate a pool Hall
at 1820-6th Avenue was read and referred to the Police Committee
to report on at the next meeting.

(Inventory of the Fire Deoartment amounting to $25,734.34
presented and ordered filed.
,Report of the Fire Marshall for the year ending December 31,
1930 was read and ordered filed.
. Report of the Recorder for the month of December, 1930, was
read and ordered filed.
• The committee was given further time regarding franchise of
the San Diego Consolidated Gas and Electric Company.
, The Committee on Automobile Insurance recommended accepting
policies of the Great American Indemnity Company submitted by
Guy and Guy. Moved by Coburn, seconded by Waddell that the
proper officers draw a warrant on the General Fund in favor of
Guy and Guy in the sum of $594.04. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.
. Communication from V. Wankowski and Company, Inc., regarding
hazard of the City in handling cash, etc. was read and referred
to the Finance Committee.
-Bond of Victor Tessitore side -walk builder was presented.
Moved by Bird, seconded by Coburn that the Bond be approved,
accepted and ordered filed. Carried.
.Deed of Fred Haller and wife for land for street purposes on
East 16th Street was presented.
;RESOLUTION NO. 1611, accepting deed of Fred Haller and wife
for land for street purposes on East 16th Street was read. Moved
by Coburn, seconded by Bird that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
.RESOLUTION NO. granting the Atchison Topeka and Santa
Fe Railway Company a Franchise to construct a spur track on
Division Street was read. Moved by Coburn, seconded by Bird,
that the Resolution be introduced and laid over under the rules
and according to law.
Moved by Coburn, seconded by Cordingly that theCounciladjourn.
Carried.
