Councilmen present- Bird, Cordingly, Murray, Waddell and Requa. Minutes of regular meeting of Aug. 18, 1931, read and approved. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. .Communication from L. J. Matthias regarding assessed valuation of lots in Kimball's Subdivision, 10 Acre Lot 5, * Section 155, was read and ordered filed. ,Communication from A. D. Blotti regarding service of the Sweetwater Water Corporation was read and ordered filed. .Communication from Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference regarding loth annual convention to be held at Berkeley, California, October5th to 10th inclusive, was read and ordered filed. •Communication from James A. Bird, Fire Marshal, recommending purchase of 500 feet of D. J. Municipal 2E inch hose at 90% per foot; 500 feet of D. J. Western 2i inch hose at 85% per foot; land 200"feet of D. J. American 11- inch hose at 70¢ per foot, was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Murray, that the City purchase fire hose recommended by the Fire Marshal. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. •Report of the City Judge for month of August 1931 was read and ordered filed. ORDINANCE NO. 610, Fixing. the Rate and Levying the Taxes for the fiscal year 1931-1932 at $1.80 per one hundred dollar valuation, was placed on final passage, and on motion by Waddell, seconded by Murray, same adopted, all Councilmen present voting aye. '<RESOLUTION NO. 1658, Ordering final payment to Griffith Company under contract dated June 9, 1931, forpaving portions of L Avenue and 18th Street, amounting to $2,015.38, was read, Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. 213. RESOLUTION NO. 1659, Directing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for furnishing electric current for Lighting District No. 1, was read. Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Council- men present voting aye. '.RESOLUTION NO. 1660, Forfeiting, Cancelling and Annulling tideland lease of Columbia Cement Company, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye, .Moved by Waddell, seconded by Murray, that the City purchase from the League of California Municipalities, three copies of the fourth editimn of the League's Municipal hand book. Carried, a 11 Councilmen present voting aye. .The City Attorney was given further time regarding opening of 7th Avenue. .The City Attorney reported he had received notice from the Railroad Commission stating that the San Diego Consolidated Gas & Electric Company had been granted a hearing for a certi- ficate of public convenience and necessity, same to be held Oct. 1, 1931 at 1:30 o'clock P. M. Moved by Murray, seconded by Cordingly, that the City Attorney be instructed to attend hearing. Carried. .The Committee was given further time regarding drainage on E. 8th Street.
