Regular meeting of the City Council called to order by the
Mayor. Councilmen present- Bird, Coburn, Cordingly, Waddell,
Requa.
Minutes of regular meeting of July 15, 1930 and of regular
adjourned meeting of July 23, 1930, read and approved.

Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the bills be allowed
and warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.
,It now being the time set for hearing appeals in the matter -
of Assessment No. 65 for the improvement of Palm Avenue, Fairmount
Avenue and Division Street, same was taken up. The appeal of W. M.
Bucknam was read.
"RESOLUTION NO. 1581, Denying and overruling appeal of W. M.
Bucknam from Assessment No. 65 for the improvement of Palm Avenue,
Fairmount Avenue and Division Street, was read. Moved by Bird,
seconded by Coburn, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
✓,RESOLUTION NO. 1582, Approving and Confirming Assessment No.
65 for the improvement of Palm Avenue, Fairmount Avenue and Division
Street, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the
Resolution be adopted. Carried,all Councilmen present voting aye.

Moved by Waddell, seconded by Coburn, that the bills be allowed

vote: Ayes, Councilmen Coburn, Waddell, Requa. Nays, Councilmen
Bird, Cordingly.
,The hour of 8:10 o'clock P.M. having arrived, the time set
for the continuance of the hearing of protests against the proposed
improvement of L Avenue and 24th Street, same was taken up. Report
of the City Engineer on protest of John W. Trout, et al, showing
approximately 86% protest against the proposed improvement of L
Avenue and 24th Street, was read.
';RESOLUTION NO. 1583, Sustaining -protest and abandoning
proceedings for the improvement of 24th Street and L Avenue, was
read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Waddell, that the Resolution be

adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
•Moved by Waddell, seconded by Cordingly, that the matter of
topping trees at 7th Street and F Avenue adjoining the Baptist
Church property be referred to Raymond Hill, Superintendent of
Streets. Carried.
,Communication from Chemical Equipment Corparation regarding
installation of equipment for the swimming pool was read and laid
over to the next meeting.
Communication from Chamber of Commerce requesting an allowance
from the Doming tax roll,was read and laid over to the next meeting.
,The following bids received for the audit of the City books
were opened, examined and publicly declared, and laid over to the
next meeting:

Communication from W. D. Gardner, Chief of Police, recommending
the appointment of Beverly J. Gautereaux as Special Police Officer
to serve without compensation, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded
by Waddell, that Beverly J. Gautereaux be appointed Special Police
Officer to serve without compensation. Carried.
.Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the appointment
of M. Taylor, Ole Christensen and Howard Green as Deputy Policemen
be rescinded and repealed and W. D. Gardner, Chief of Police, be
authorized to collect their badges. Carried.
•Communication from L. E. Spicer requesting that the Alley
between B and C Avenues and llth and 12th Streets, in Block 3,
be closed, was read and referred to the Planning Commission.
,Report of the Recorder for month of July, 1930, was read
and ordered filed.
•The City Attorney reported that the matter of bill of Telephone
Company to Chas. Stein was still pending.
,The Street Superintendent reported that the obstruction
in the Alley in Homeland Park had been removed.

.The Fire Committee recommended that a fire hydrant be
installed at East 8th Street and R Avenue. Moved by Coburn,
seconded by Bird, that a fire hydrant be installed at East 8th
Street and R Avenue. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
Moved by Waddell, seconded by Coburn, that two street lights
be installed on Division Street, one at the West end of the two-way
drive of 250 C. P. and one of 100 C. P. at the East end of the two-
way drive. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
,Moved by Waddell, seconded by Bird, that the City Attorney
be given permission to be absent from the meeting August 19, 1930.

Communication from Nelson & Sloan requesting extension of
thirty days time for completion of contract for the improvement of
Palm Avenue, Fairmount Avenue and Division Street, was read.
'RESOLUTION NO. 1584, Granting Nelson & Sloan thirty days
extension of time for the completion of contract for improvement
of Palm Avenue, Fairmount Avenue and Division Street, was read.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Coburn, that the Resolution be
adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
.ORDINANCE NO. , Amending Section 1 of Ordinance No.
597, providing for boulevard steps, was read. Moved by Cordingly,
seconded by Waddell, that it be introduced and laid over under the
rules and according to law. Carried.
'RESOLUTION NO. 1585, Ordering the City Engineer to preparo
plans and specifications and plat of district for the improvement
of portions of L Avenue and 24th Street, was read. Moved by
Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
,Estimate of City Engineer of quantities for the improvement
of portions of L Avenue and 24th Street, was read and ordered filed.
RESOLUTION No. 1586, Approving and adopting plans and specifi-
cations and plat of district for the improvement of portions of L
Avenue and 24th Street, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by
Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.

?RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1587, for the improvement of
portions of L Avenue and 24th Street, was read. Moved by Cordingly,
seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
iThe Mayor announced that the Board of Equalization would
meet Monday, August 11;1930, at 10:00 o'clock A. M.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Council
adjourn. Carried.
