Regular meeting of the City Council called to order by the
Mayor. Councilmen present- Bird, Coburn, Cordingly, Waddell and
Requa.
Minutes of regular meeting of November 18, 1930, read and
approved.

present voting aye.
•Mr. Kibler was present, requesting that some work be done on
streets in Hills of Paradise Subdivision. Referred to the street
committee.
,W. E. Flack present regarding the community Christmas tree.
-Requested that the City contribute $100.00 toward expense. Moved
by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the sum of $100.00 be paid to
the Community Christmas tree out of the general fund. Carried,

,Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly that the City purchase
permanent lights to be used for the Christmas tree, not to exceed
$100.00, same to be taken from the general fund. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
.Juluis Zucker, 1605 Nat'l Ave, was present complaining
that parties stopped at his place requesting permission to camp
there over night and thought the police should take care of then.
Referred to the Police Committee to investigate.
,Mrs. C. G. Dunning asked that some action be taken toward
closing the Nly 10 ft of the Sly 40 ft of the S of the N2 of
10 Ac Lot 15, % Sec. 152., as former owners deeded the property
from the center of an 80 ft Street. Moved by Cordingly, seconded
by Coburn, that the matter be referred to the City Attorney. Carried.
.Representative of the National City Chamber of Commerce present,
requesting that an appropriation of $50.00 be made for the maintenance
of a Civic Chorus, to cover the period of October 1st to June 30th.
Moved by Bird, seconded by Coburn, that the City purchase music for
the use and benefit of the National City Civic Chorus, not to
exceed $50.00, as requested by the Chamber of Commerce. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye. _
,Communication from the Miracle Construction Company of San
Diego regarding construction of sewer was read and ordered filed.
RESOLUTION NO. 1605, directing the City Engineer to prepare
plans, specifications and a plat showing the boundaries of lands
affected in the construction of a sewer system was read. Moved
by Bird, seconded by Coburn, that the resolution be adopted. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
.Communication from the Chemical Equipment Corporation request-
ing additional payment on contract in December was read. The
City Clerk was instructed to reply stating that the City will be
compelled to follow the terms of contract for the present.
,Communication from Sayler -Day Company, Gen. Agts, representing
the National Surety Company requests release'form:1be`signed

for future liabilities on the bond of Bernard William Servatius
as Superintendent of Streets, was read. Moved by Coburn, seconded
by Bird that the Mayor be authorized to sign the release. Carried.
.Communication from the National City Firemen's Club extending
an invitation to the members of the Council to be present at a
meeting of the County Firemen's Association was read, and ordered
filed.
.Petition of Copper and Son to install gasoline tanks at first
Avenue and Main Street was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Coburn,
that the request be granted, work to be done under supervision of
fire chief. Carried.
Communication from the City Attorney regarding the question
of insurance on vehicles operated by the City was read. Moved by
Coburn, seconded by Waddell, that a committee consisting of
Bird, Cordingly, Requa and the City Attorney be appointed to
investigate the matter of insurance. Carried.
.Report of the recorder for the month of November, 1930 was
read and ordered filed.
,Report of the City Engineer on bids for placing stucco on
dressing rooms at swimming pool was read, and ordered filed.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Waddell, that the bid of John
Rc Orvin be accepted and the City Attorney instructed to prepare
contract for same. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
,Report of the City Engineer on the report of the Harbor
Committee of the National City Chamber of Commerce on Harbor
Improvement was read and ordered filed.
/ ,RESOLUTION NO. 1606, fixing the amount of bond for proposed
Franchise to construct a Railroad on Division Street was read.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Coburn, that the resolution be
adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
,Communication from the Railroad Commission regarding crossing
at 12th Street. The City Attorney was instructed to write the
Railroad Commission stating that the City had no intention to use
the street at present and would place barriers accross same.

.Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Coburn, that a new warrant
in favor of the Calavara Rock Corporation be drawn on the Street
Improvement Fund and the Clerk instructed to deliver same upon
a proper form of indemnity bond being executed and delivered to
the City. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
,Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Coburn, that the City
Attorney write the Columbia Cement Company regarding payment
of tide land rental. Carried.
.The Street Committee recommended the merger of the offices
of the Street Superintendent and City Engineer. No action taken.
'Moved by Coburn, seconded by Waddell, that the City advertise
for bids for new fire equipment as per specifications submitted.
Carried.
.The City Attorney was instructed to have a protest ready
to be filed before December 15, 1930 with the Railroad Commission
regarding water controversy, if necessary.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Coburn, that the Council
adjourn. Carried.
