Regular meeting of the City Council called to order by
the Mayor. Councilmen present- Bird, Coburn, Waddell and Requa.
Councilman Cordingly absent.
Minutes of regular meeting of December 2, 1930 read and
approved.
The following bills audited by a majority of the Finance
Committee, presented:

Moved by Bird, seconded by Coburn that the bills be allowed
and warrants ordered drawn for same. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.
-Mr. C. A. Harvey was present asking if 24th Street from
Prospect Street to Granger Ave., could not be opened for the
benefit of the school in that district. Was informed that the
county and City would make 24th Street passable from Granger
Avenue to Lanoitan Avenue shortly after the first of the year.
,No bids were received for franchise for Spur track on
Division Street.
.Communication from the San Diego County Welfare Commission
requesting exemption from taxation for property in the name of
Joseph and Louisa Corda and Don Westcott was read. The Clerk
was instructed to answer stating that unless deed to property
of above owners was issued prior to the first Monday in March
1930, tax would have to be paid.
.Communication from the Railroad Commission regarding cross-
ing at 12th Street was read and ordered filed.

-Communication from V. Wankowski & Co., Inc., regarding
Sanitary Sewer District #2, was read and ordered filed.
.Application of Irene Wissink, deputy Treasurer and Tax
Collector for an increase of $15.00 per month in salary
effective January 1, 1931, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded
by Waddell that the salary of the Deputy City Treasurer and
Tax Collector, be increased to 6100.00 per month, effective
January 1, 1931. Carried, all councilmen present voting aye.
.Application of Charles Stein for sixty days extension
of time to complete work on L Avenue and 24th Street, was
read and ordered filed.
.RESOLUTION ND: 1607, Granting Charles Stein sixty days
extension of time for the completion of work on L Avenue and
24th Streets was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Coburn
that the resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.
\Bond of George S. Iverson, master plumber, was presented.
Moved by Coburn, seconded by Bird, that the Bond be approved,
accepted and ordered filed. Carried.
'(RESOLUTION NO. 1608, accepting plans, specifications,
etc., for Sanitary Sewer System was read. Moved by Bird,
seconded by Coburn that the resolution be adopted. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
'.RESOLUION-OF.INTENTION_N0u01609. for the construction
of a Sanitary Sewer System was read. Moved by Bird, seconded
by Coburn that the resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.
.The City Attorney reported that the hearing on the Water
Controversey had been postponed to February 15, 1931.
.Application of San Diego Consolidated Gas and Electric
Company for a Franchise for Gas and ElectriciService inothe
CitI of National City was read. Moved by Coburn, seconded by
Bird that the application be filed and a committed be appointed
to interview Mr. W. F. Raber, Vice President of the San Diego
Consolidated Gas and Electric Company regarding prppoded
Franchise. Carried. The Mayor appointed the City Council
as a whole to interview Mr. Raber.

.The Police Committee recommended that the Pool License of
James Cary be revoked. Moved by Bird, seconded by Coburn
that the pool and card table license issued to James Cary be
revoked. Carried.
•Communication from the Street Superintendent making certain
recommendations was read and laid over to the next meeting.
.The matter of insurance for motor vehicles used by City
employees was taken up. Bid of the Indemnity Insurance Co. of
North America and Percy H. Goodwin Company were read and
referred to the committee to report on at next meeting.
Moved by Bird, seconded by Coburn, that the Council adjourn.
Carried.
