Trustees present- Bird, Cordingly, Murray, Addis. Trustee Fritz absent. Minutes of regular meeting of December 17, 1929, read and aproved. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. •Communication from San Diego Electric Railway Company stating that they would start the bus service in place of the present street railway, on Jan. 10, 1930, and was desirous of placing bus stop signs along the routes, and requesting per- mission from the Board of Trustees to do so, was read. 'Moved by Murray, seconded by Cordingly, that the request be granted. Carried. .Communication from State Compensation Insurance Fund stating that Mr. Clark had received the best treatment available, and was in need of no further treatment, was read and laid over. ,Petition of R. Lee for street light at 28th-Street'and High- land Avenue, was read and referred to the Finance Committee. •Communication from General Petroleum Corporation requesting permission to install two storage tanks at 1041 National Avenue, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the petition be granted, work to be done under the supertision of the Fire- - Department. Carried. .Communication from Edna W. Snook requesting that a member of the Board be appointed to act on a governing board for the - health center, was read. The Chairman appointed Trustee Cordingly to act on such board. .Communication from F. W. Fritzenkotter requesting refund of check deposited for removal of trees on Grove Street, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the check be returned. Carried. .Communication from San Diego & Arizona Railway Company requesting that a resolution be adopted granting them permission to remove certain tracks in the City was read and referred to the City Attorney. •It now being the time set for continuance of the hearing of appeals from Assessment No. 61 for the improvement of portions 45. of 16th Street, 18th Street and L Avenue, same was taken up. After considerable discussion, it was moved by Cordingly, seconded by Murray, that the hearing be continued to Jan. 21, 1930, at 8 o'clock P.M. Carried. .The following bids received for the grading of portions of Palm Avenue, Fairmount Avenue and Division Street, were opened, examined and publicly declared: H. G. PENICK & SONS Excavation, per cu. yd $.33 Embankment, per cu. yd r$.02 .A11 bidswere referred to the City Engineer. .The hour of 8:15 otclock P.M. having arrived, the President of the Board of Trustees stated that it was the time and dace for hearing objections to the proposed improvement of portions of 17th Street and B Avenue, and asked if anyone present desired to protest against the proposed improvement. There being none, the City Clerk stated that no written protests had been filed, and filed his certificate so stating. -RESOLUTION NO. 1508 ORDERING WORK of the grading and other improvement of portions of 17th Street and B Avenue, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .Report of the Recorder for month of December, 1929, was read and ordered filed. .Report of the City Engineer on petition of property owners to pave 18th Street from Granger Avenue to Rachel Avenue, stating 46. that same represents about 31% of the frontage, was read and ordered filed. .Report of the City Engineer on bids for the grading of portions of Palm Avenue, Fairmount Avenue and Division Street, recommending acceptance of the bid of Nelson & Sloan, was read and ordered filed. RESOLUTION OF AWARD NO. 1509, awarding contract for the grading of portions of Palm Avenue, Fairmount Avenue and Division Street, to Nelson & Sloan, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ;RESOLUTION NO. 1510, regarding improvement of San Diego Bay, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ✓RESOLUTION NO. 1511, Directing the City Engineer to furnish diagram for the improvement of portions of 1st Street and L and J Avenue terminations, was read. Moved by Murray, seconded by Cord- in$ly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. 'RESOLUTION NO. 1512, Approving diagram of the City Engineer for improvement of portions of 1st Street and L and J Avenue ter- minations, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,RESOLUTION NO. 1513, Approving plans, etc. for the paving with Portland cement concrete pavement of portions of D Avenue, 16th Street and L Avenue, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ;RESOLUTION NO. 1514, Approving plans, etc. for the paving with Asphalt concrete pavement of portions of D Avenue, l6th Street and L Avenue, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. 47. RESOLUTION NO. 1515, Directing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the paving with Portland cement concrete pavement of portions of D Avenue, 16th Street and L Avenue, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ;RESOLUTION NO. 1516, Directing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the paving with Asphalt concrete pavement of portions of D Avenue, 16th Street and L Avenue, was read. Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. :RESOLUTION NO. 1517 OF INTENTION to close portions of L Avenue between 24th and 26th Streets, was read. Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the City Attorney and City Engineer be instructed to secure search of title of land in #3 sewer district. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that a dog catcher be appointed for three weeks at a salary of $5.00 per dgy, he to furnish own equipment. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .The Finance Committee recommended that a street light be installed at 16th Street and J Avenue and also one at 18th Street and L Avenue. Moved by Murray, seconded by Cordingly, that a street light be installed at the intersection of 16th Street and J Avenue, and one at 18th Street and L Avenue. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Board adjourn. Carried.
