Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly that the bills be

.Moved by Bird seconded i Cordingly that this Council
enter into an agreement with the City Council of Chula Vista
and parties representing the County District adjoining Chula
Vista, to retain Mr. Cosgrove, and will instruct the proper
officers to sign contract with Mr. Cosgrove when rr•esented
by the Committee appointed by Mayor Requa at theQi.vhoint
meeting of the District. it is understood that the fee to Mr.
Cosgrove will not exceed $1,875.00 as National City's share. And
that the amount of $750.00 will be retainer. Mr. Cosgrove will
represent National City, Chula Vista and adjoining District now
served by the Sweetwater hfater Co, in protesting the addition
of more acreage to present, cvstem. Carried by the following
vote; Aye: Bird, L'oburnand Cordingly; Nay: dladdell and Requa.
•Petition of the Atehtcon, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Co;
for franchise for spur track on Division Street was read. Moved
by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that petition be referred to City
Attorney and City Engineer for checking and report. Carried.
.Petition of James Carey for license to operate a pool hall
at 1820 6th. Ave. was read and referred to Police Committee.
•Petition of Harry LicCue for an increase in salary was read
and referred to Police Committee.
'Communication from J. E. Cooper of the Railroad Commission
stating that Mr. J. G. Hunter, Transportation Engineer for the
Commission would meet with City Representatives regarding trans-
portfttion at 10 A.M. October 17, 193 ,was read. City Clerk in-
structed to answer saying that the City Council would meet with
Mr. Hunter on date and hour mentioned, at Chamber of Commerce room.
. Communication of National City Chamber of Commerce enclosing
report of their Harbor Coni?nittee on proposed improvement of tide
lands was read. Loved by Bird seconded by 1'4addell that it be
referred to City Engineer. Carried.
. Report of Recorder for month of September 1930 read and
ordered filed.
• Communic: tion from the Planning Commission recommending
closing alley in Block 3, S. D. Land Cr Town Co, Subdivision in

10 Acre Lot 4, 1/4 Section 154, provided alley curb returns now
in on 12th street be removed and that sidewalk and burb be con-
structed across said alley and also that an easement for sewers
and public utilities be executed and placed in escrow to be de-
livered to the City on completion of closing proceedings. The
~ cost oflosing proceedings to be paid by property owners bene-
fited. droved by Cordingly, seconded by Coburn that City Attorney
and City Engineer start proceding for closing said alley provided
conditions rientioned are accepted by property owners. Carried.
•City Attorney given further time regarding matter of ad-
vertising for printing.
.Street Committee Stated it would be necessary to make change
of sidewalk on Divis±on street over protest of property owners
at present time.
•Communication of Percy H. Goodwin & Co. recording Insurance
was read and laid over.
.The natter of ownership and operation of automobiles referred
to City Attorney.
-Bill of Helen V. Kibler for work in Recorder's Court, amounting
to `s12.00 presented. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Coburn that
bill he allowed and warrant ordered drawn for same. Carried by
following vote; Aye: Coburn, Waddell and Requa. IJay: Bird and
Cordincly.
.hill of D. E. Lozier for rent and water, Police and Recorders
Rooms west 8th st. presented. !Moved by Waddell, seconded by
Coburn, that bill be allowed and warrant ordered drawn for same
and that neter bill for water furnished be in name; of City. Carried
by following vote; Aye; Coburn, Waddell, and Requa. Nay: Bird
and Cordingly.
•Moved by Bird, seconded by Coburn that the Citv Advertise
for bid for a 12 Ton Truck and on0300 gallon per minute centrigugal
pump as per specifications furnished by Fire Chief and City
Engineer. Carried. All Councilmen vote aye.

.City Attorney instructed to prepare anresolutione raising
salary of Asst. Fire Chief to ,?150.00 and Fire Engineer to W240.00
per month.
Moved by Coburn seconded by Waddell that the Council adjourn.
Carried.
