Regular meeting of the City Council called to order by
the Mayor. Councilmen present- Coburn, Cordingly, Waddell and
Requa. Councilman Bird late.
Minutes of regular meeting of October 7, 1930 was read and
approved.
The following bills, audited by a majority of the Finance
Committee, presented:

Miles S. Edgerton, Police Judge, was present requesting a clerk
for his court.
Resolution #1594, authorizing employment of clerk for court for
Carried, all Councilman
three days a week at a salary of $12.00 a week was read. Moved by
Coburn, seconded by Waddell, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried,
by the following vote: Ayes- Councilmen Coburn, Waddell, Requa. Nay:
Councilman Cordingly.
Councilman Bird arrived.

• T. C. Macaulay presented communication requesting permission
to move the frame structure on the Southwest corner of National
Avenue and 9th street to rear of property, facing it on 9th street.
Same was laid over until later in meeting.
• Communication from Alfred E. Tarr regarding Studebaker cars
and trucks was read and ordered filed.
• Communication from L. N. Turrentine regarding printing for
the City was read and ordered filed.
• Communication from Enrique Garibay requesting transfer of pool
hall license to new location was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded
by Coburn, that the request be granted. Carried.
The matter of moving the building on the Southwest corner of
National Avenue and 9th street was taken up again. Moved by Waddell,
seconded by Coburn that T. C. Macaulay be given permission to move
said building to rear of property and place it on same type foundation
as now under building facing same on 9th street. Carried.
• Communication from T. P. Griffith accompanied by a deposit of
$20.00 requesting permission to remove four olive trees on B. Avenue,
North of 8th. street was read. Moved by Coburn, seconded by Cordingly,
that the request be granted. Carried.
• Communication from City of Coronado regarding water question
was read and referred to the Water Committee.
• Reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for quarter ending
September 30, 1930, presented and ordered filed.
• Report of L. S. Brown of the general audit of the City books
was presented. Same was laid over for further consideration.
• The Police Committee recommended that James Carey be granted
a license to operate a pool hall at 1820 - 6th Avenue. Moved by
Waddell, seconded by Bird, that James Carey be granted a license
to operate a pool hall at 1820 - 6th Avenue. Carried.
•Police Committee was given further time regarding increase in
salary of R. T. McCue.
}• Resolution #1595 - Directing Advertising of Application for
Franchise and Notice Inviting Bids of the A. T. & S. F. Railway Co.
for spur track on Division Street was read. Moved by Bird, seconded
by Coburn that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen

• Mayor Requa reported on the hearing before the Railway Commission
regarding bus route.
/.'Resolution #1596 - Directing the City Clerk to Advertise for
bids for applying stucco to dressing rooms at the swimming pool in
the public park was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Coburn,
that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
• The City Attorney was instructed to draw up a Resolution making
B. J. Gautereaux Superintendent of City Plunge at a salary of $150.00
per month.
-Councilman Bird and City Attorney Turrentine reported on meeting
regarding the water question held at Chula Vista.
'.Resolution #1597 - Appointing Assistant Fire Chief, Captain
and Engineer of the Fire Department and fixing their salaries, was
read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Coburn, that the Resolution be
adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
Moved by Coburn, seconded by Cordingly, that the Council adjourn
to Tuesday, October 28, 1930 at 7:30 o'clock P. M. Carried.
