Regular meeting of the City Council called to order by the
Mayor. Councilmen present- Bird, Coburn, Cordingly, Waddell,
Requa.
Minutes of regular meeting of August 19, 1930, read and
approved.

Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Coburn, that the
bills be allow-
ed and warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Council-

men present voting aye.
'Petition of C. T. Short, to install two gasoline tanks in
parking, in front of Lots 21 & 22, Elk :'53, was read. Moved by
Bird, seconded by Cordingly that the petition be granted, work to
be done under the supervision of the Fire Chief. Carried.
,Communication from the Olivewood Club, requesting that no
reduction in the amount of tax to be levied for the Park was read
and ordered filed.
,Report of the Recorder for month of August 1930 was read and
ordered filed.
,Fire Committee given further time, regarding fire hydrant at
4th St. and Palm Ave.
Commission
,No report from Planning/regarding petition of L. E. Spicer to
close alley.
✓Ordinance No.604, fixing rate at $1.93, and leveying taxes
for the fiscal year 1030-1931, placed on final passage, and on
motion of Waddell, seconded by Coburn, same adopted by the follow-
ing vote. Ayes: Coburn, Waddell and Requa,; Nay: Bird and Cord-
ingly.
,The hour of 8 o'clock P. M. having arrived, the Mayor of the
City stated that it was the time and place for hearing protests
against the improvement of L Avenue and 24th Street and asked if
any one present desired to protest against the proposed improve-
ment. Certificate of City Clerk showing no protests had been
filed was read and ordered filed.
Resolution Ordering Work, No. 1590, for the improvement of
L Avenue and 24th Street was read.
Moved by Cordingly ,seconded
by Bird that the Resolution be adopted. Carried; all Councilmen
present voting Aye.
.Bid of the San Diego Consolidated Gas and Electric Co., to
furnish electric current for Lighting District No. 1 for year
ending July 31, 1931, for $1195.20 was read.
.Resolution of Award DTo. 1591, awarding contract to the San

Diego Consolidated Gas and Electric Co, for Lighting District No. 1,
was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly that the Resolution
be adopted. Carried; all Councilment present voting Aye.
.Bill of the National Cash Register Co. for S112.50 register for
Swimming Pool was read. Moved by Waddell, seconded by Coburn that
the bill be allowed and warrant ordered drawn for same. Carried; all
Councilmen present voting aye.
.Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly that Alice M. Pecka, be
appointed temporary Deputy City Clerk, at a salary of $75.00 per mo.
Carried; all Councilmen present voting aye.
,Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Coburn that the City Attorney
interview the San Diego Consolidated Gas and Electric Co and the So.
California Telephone Co., regarding feasability of a franchise. Carried.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Coburn that the Council adjourn.
Carried.
