Trustees present- Bird, Fritz, Murray, Addis. Trustee Cordingly absent. Minutes of regular meeting of December 3, 1929, read and approved. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. dar. J. T. Clark, who was injured while working for the street department Dec. 6, 1928, was present and stated that he had a permanent injury to his foot, but was unable to get any satisfaction from the State Compensation Insurance Fund. Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the City Clerk be in- structed to write the State Compensation Insurance Fund asking for an explanation. Carried. 'Communication from the Department of Public Health re- garding the installation of additional sewerage system, was read and ordered filed. .Petition of property owners for the paving of 18th Street from Granger Avenue to Rachel Avenue, was read and referred to the City Engineer. 40. .Petition of citizens for a fire hydrant at the corner of 18th Street and J Avenue, was read. Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that a fire hydrant be installed at the corner of 18th Street and J Avenue, Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,Petition of citizens for a street light at the corner of 16th Street and J Avenue was read and referred to the Finance Committee. .Communication from Asa R. Webb, City Treasurer, asking increase in salary of his Deputy, Irene Wissink, was read and referred to the Finance Committee. .Bond of A. C. Hewitt, Sidewalk Builder, was presented. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Bond be approved, accepted and ordered filed. Carried. 'It now being the time set for hearing in the matter of . Assessment No. 61 for the improvement of portions of 16th Street, 18th Street and L Avenue, same was taken up. The appeals of Acil M. Bushert, filed Dec. 12, 1929, John M. Kulick, filed Dec. 13, 1929, E. K. Hong, et al, Asa Former, and W. J. Douglass, filed Dec. 16, 1929, were read. RESOLUTION NO. 1501, Denying and overruling appeal of John M. Kulick in the matter of Assessment No. 61, was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,Moved by Murray, seconded by Fritz, that the hearing in the matter of Assessment No. 61 for the improvement of portions of 16th Street, 18th Street and L Avenue, be continued to January 7, 1930, at 8 o'clock P. M. Carried. .The hour of 8:15 o'clock P.M. having arrived, the President of the Board of Trustees stated that it was the time and place for hearing objections to the proposed improvement of Palm Avenue; Fairmount Avenue and Division Street, and asked if anyone present desired to protest against the proposed improvement. There being none, the City Clerk stated that no written protests had been filed, and filed his certificate so stating. 41. "RESOLUTION NO. 1502, Ordering the improvement of portions of Palm Avenue, Fairmount Avenue and Division Street, was read. Moved by Murray, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,Petition of Olof Nelson for extension of sixty days time in which to complete the improvement of D Avenue between 18th and 30th Streets, was read, and ordered filed. J.RESOLUTION NO. 1503, Granting Olof Nelson extension of sixty days time to complete the contract for the improvement of D Avenue between 18th and 30th Streets, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried,all Trustees present voting aye. ;RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1504, for the widening of L Avenue between the Northerly line of 26th Street and a line drawn parallel to and distant 427.29 feet Northerly from the Northerly line of 26th Street, was read. Moved by Murray, ' seconded by Bird, that the Resolutton be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. - < RESOLUTION NO. 1505,Dlidering the City Engineer to prepare plans and specifications for the improvement of portions of 17th Street and B Avenue, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. RESOLUTION NO. 1506, Approving and adopting plans and specifications for the improvement of portions of 17th Street and B Avenue, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,Estimate of quantities for the improvement of portions of 17th Street and B Avenue, was read and ordered filed. JRESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1507, for the improvement of portions of 17th Street and B Avenue, was read. Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that the matter of re- 42. modeling the buildings for the County Welfare Commission be referred to the Superintendent of Streets. Carried. ,The President of the Board suggested the appointment of Mrs. Winifred E. Short to fill out the unexpired term of Mrs. Silver as Library Trustee. Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that Mrs. Winifred E. Short be appointed member of the Library Board to fill out the unexpired term of Mrs. Silver. Carried. •The Finance Committee, to whom the matter of increase in salary of Irene Wissink, Deputy City Treasurer and Tax Collector, was referred, recommended granting the same. ,Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that the salary of Irene Wissink as Deputy City Treasurer and Tax Collector, be $85.00 per calendar month, effective January 1, 1930. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .The matter of insuring motorcycles and automobiles in use by the Police Department was referred to the Finance Committee.
