Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees called to order
by the President. Trustees present- Bird, Cordingly, Fritz,
Murray, Addis.
Minutes of regular meeting of May 21, 1929, read and
approved.

and warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
.Petition of property owners requesting that K Avenue
be reduced from 80 feet to 60 feet in width from 18th Street to
24th Street, was read and referred to the City Engineer.

,Petition of Richards & Bowman, Inc. for permission to
install a gasolihe tank at service station at 604 National Avenue
was read. Moved by Murray, seconded by Cordingly, that the petition
be granted. Carried.
/Petition of property owners for the grading of Palm Avenue
from Division Street to 4th Street was read and referred to the
City Engineer.
.Communication from National City Public Library requesting
the re -appointment of Mrs. Fannie Thelen as Library Trustee,was
read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly; that Mrs. Fannie
Thelen be appointed member of Library Board of Trustees for term
beginning July 1, 1929. Carried.
.The following bids received for the paving of portions of
P Avenue between 4th and 18th Streets, were opened, examined and
publicly declared:

.A11 bids were referred to the City Engineer.
.The hour of eight o'clock P. M. having arrived, the President
of the Board stated that it was the time and place for hearing of
protests against the improvement of D Avenue between 18th and 30th

Streets and asked if any one present desired to protest against
the proposed improvement. The City Clerk stated that no written
protests had been filed, and filed his certificate so stating.
,Mr. L. A. Weisser was present and stated that he did not
consider it advisable to make the improvement of D Avenue at the
present time.
.Mr. J. R. Kammerer was present and stated that he had been
waiting for the past 14 years to have this work done and hoped the
improvement would be made.
;RESOLUTION ORDERING WORK NO. 1431, for the grading and
other improvement of D Avenue between lath and 30th Streets, was
read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be
adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
,Communication from M. P. Moeser, Post Master, regarding
free mail delivery was read and referred to the Street Department.
.Communication from Walter L. Cagle requesting that his
license to operate four card tables at 733 National Avenue,be
revoked, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that
the license of Walter L. Cagle to operate four card tables at
733 National Avenue be revoked. Carried.
.Communication from W. A. Paddock and George F. Faircloth
requesting that 21st Street be closed between B and D Avenues,
was read and referred to the City Engineer.
,Report of the City Engineer on bids for the paving of
portions of P Avenue between 4th and 18th Streets, recomnending
acceptance of the bid of T. B. Penick & Sons, was read and ordered
filed.
.RESOLUTION OF AWARD NO. 1432, awarding the contract to
T. B. Penick & Sons for the paving of portions of P AVenue between
4th and 18th Streets, was read. Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird,
that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present
voting aye.
.Report of the City Marshal for month of May, 1929, was
read and ordered filed.

.Report of the Recorder for month of May, 1929, was read
and ordered filed.
•ORDINANCE NO. , An Ordinance governing the storage,
handling, etc. of inflammable liquids, was read. Moved by Bird,
seconded by Murray, that it be introduced and laid over under the
rules and according to law. Carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 1433, Ordering the City Engineer to prepare
plans and specifications for the grading and other improvement of
portions of 16th Street, 18th Street and L Avenue, was read.
Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be
adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
RESOLUTION NO. 1434, Approving and adopting the plans
and specifications for the grading and other improvement of por-
tions of 16th Street, 18th Street and L Avenue, was read. Moved
by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
,Estimate of theCity Engineer of quantities for the grading
and other improvement of portions of 16th Street, 18th Street and
L Avenue, was read, and ordered filed.
'.RESOLUTION OF IUTENTION NO. 1435 for the grading and other
improvement of portions of 16th Street, 18th Street and L Avenue,
was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution
be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
•Report of the City Engineer for National City Lighting
District No. 1 was presented and ordered filed.
;RESOLUTION NO. 1436, Appointing time and place for hearing
protests and directing clerk to give notice of said hearing for
National City Lighting District No. 1, was read. Moved by Bird,
seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all
Trustees -present epting aye.
RESOLUTION NO. 1437, Ordering the closing of 17th Street
from the Easterly line of D Avenue to the Westerly line of F Avenue,
excepting intersection thereof with E Avenue, and the Alley in Block
1, Morgan's Subdivision, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by

Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
.RESOLUTION NO. 1438, Repealing Resolution No. 1355, and
creating offices of Traffic Policemen, etc. was read. Moved by
Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
;RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1439 for the widening of
L Avenue between the Southerly line of 18th Street and a line
parallel thereto and distant 290 feet Southerly therefrom, was
read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be
adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
.Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Murray, that the sum of
$161.80 be transferred from Lighting District Fund No. 1 to the
General Fund, and the proper officers be instructed to make the
necessary entries upon their records. Carried.
.The City Attorney requested leave of absence for four or
five weeks. Moved by Murray, seconded by Fritz, that the request
be granted. Carried
Moved by Fritz, seconded by Murray, that the Board adjourn.
Carried.
