Trustees present- Bird, Cordingly, Fritz, Murray, and Addis. Minutes of regular meeting of March 5, 1929, read and approved. The following bills, audited by the Finance Committee, presented: Asa R. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,Communication from the Tax Factors, Inc. regarding books for making assessments was read and ordered filed. 'Communication from San Diego Chamber of Commerce regarding franchise to the California -Eastern Oil Company was read. Moved by Cordingly, to write them seconded by Murray, that the City Clerk regarding same. Carried. .Report of the City Marshal regarding boulevard be instructed stops was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare an ordinance locating certain boulevard stops. Carried. .Communication from Chas. Arnell requesting refund of $35.00 deposit for removal of trees at 5th Street and I Avenue was read and referred to the Street Department. 271. ,Petition of Robt. S. Porter accompanied by deposit of 010.00 to remove two trees on Division Street was read and referred to the Street Department. ,It now being the time set for hearing appeals in the matter of Assessment No. 57 for the paving and other improvement of portions of First Avenue between 14th and 16th Streets, same was taken up and concluded. -{RESOLUTION NO. 1404, Confirming Superintendent of Streets' Assessment No. 57 for the paving and other improvement of portions of First Avenue between 14th and l6th Streets, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .The hour of eight o'clock P.M. having arrived, the President of the Board stated that it was the time and place for hearing of protesta against the paving of the Alleys in Thelen's Re -Subdivision, Excelsior Place, Block 1, Coombes Place and portions of First Street, as shown in Resolution of Intention No. 1388, and asked if anyone present desired to protest against the proposed improvement. There being none, the City Clerk stated that no written protests had been filed, and filed his certificate so stating. J.RESOLUTION NO. 1405 ORDERING WORK of paving the Alleys in Thelen's Re -Subdivision, Excelsior Place, Block 1, Coombes Place and portions of First Street, was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. J.RESOLUTION NO. 1406, Authorizing City Attorney to settle suit of Sylvester Kipp vs. City of National City for the sum of $619.02 and costs of suit, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees Bird, Fritz, Murray, Addis. Nay, Trustee Cordingly. .ORDINANCE NO. , Amending Ordinance No. 506 regulating plumbing, etc. was laid over. Bond of Earl J. Davis, Master Plumber, was presented. 272. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Bond be approved, accepted and ordered filed. Carried. ,Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the City Clerk be authorized to accept the sum of $4.87 for the redemption of Lot 15, Block 3, National Avenue Terrace Subdivision. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ;RESOLUTION NO. 1407, Accepting Subordination Agreement executed by Union Trust Company, subordinating Trust Deed made by L. F. Stewart and wife in favor of Nannie Mahan, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,RESOLUTION NO. 1408, Accepting Easement of National School District for right of way for street purposes on 24th Street and Lanoitan Avenue, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ;RESOLUTION NO. 1409, Accepting Deed of E. F. Allen and Wife for land for street purposes on D Avenue, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. RESOLUTION NO. 1410, Accepting Subordination Agreement executed by J. Fred Harding and Wife, subordinating mortgage made by Osborn G. Austin and Wife, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. 4RESOLUTION NO. 1411, Authorizing final payment to Griffith Company under contract dated Dec. 4, 1928, for paving portions of 18th Street between National Avenue and 8th Avenue and portions of the intersection of West Avenue and 18th Street, amounting to $2127.58, was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,RESOLUTION NO.1412, Authorizing payment of bonded indebtedness due March 15, 1929, amounting to $3300.00 was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. 273. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .ORDINANCE NO. , Regulating the storage of gasoline, etc. was referred to the City Attorney. .Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specifications for grading, sidewaiking, curbing and guttering 16th Street from National Avenue to L Avenue; L Avenue from 16th Street to 18th Street; and 18th Street from Highland Avenue to P Avenue.
