Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees called to order
by the President. Trustees present- Bird, Fritz, Murray, Addis.
Trustee Cordingly absent.
Minutes of regular meeting of April 16, 1929, read, corrected
and approved to read as follows: That the City Engineer be instructed
to prepare a profile of the contemplated grade of 8th Street from
1st Avenue to the Bay instead of establishing the grade.

• Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Sunset
Pacific 0i1 Company be granted permit for erection and maintenance
of wharf, and the President of the Board and the City Clerk be
authorized to sign same. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
• Mrs. Cecelia Graham complained that auto drivers were not
observing boulevard stops, especially in the early morning hours.
The matter was referred to the Police Department.
,Communication from Paul P. Lewis requesting permission to
grade the Ely side of P Avenue between 6th and 7th Streets by
private contract was read. Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird,
that the petition be granted, work to be done under the supervision
of the City Engineer and Superintendent of Streets. Carried.
.Petition of Robt. S. Porter for refund of $10.00 deposit
for removal of two trees at 420 Division Street was read and re-
ferred to the Superintendent of Streets.
.Petition of Edward Moore for refund of $5.00 deposit for
removal of tree at 24th Street and Highland Avenue was read and re-
ferred to the Superintendent of Streets.
,Communication from Sweetwater Union High School regarding
the improvement of D Avenue and the closing of 17th Street between
D and F Avenues was read and ordered filed.
-Communication from E. L. Freeland recommending that stops
be placed on Harbison Avenue at the intersection of 8th Street was
read and referred to the Street Superintendent.
.Report of the City Marshal for month of April 1929 read
and ordered filed.
.Report of the City Recorder for month of April 1929 read
and ordered filed.
.Report of the City Engineer on the grading of 8th Street
between 3rd Avenue and the Bay was read and ordered filed.
•Copy of Resolution adopted by the Olivewood Woman's Club
regarding the animal shelter on Highland Avenue was read and ordered
filed.

/The Street Superintendent reported that the tree removed
by Mrs. Helen Curt had not been properly taken care of.
;RESOLUTION NO. 1417 directing the City Engineer to furnish
diagram for the grading of portions of P Avenue between 4th and 18th
Streets was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the
Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.

4,RESOLUTION NO. 1419, Ordering the City Engineer to prepare
plans and q)ecifications for the improvement of portions of D Avenue
between 18th and 30th Streets was read. Moved by Murray, seconded
by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.

specifications for the improvement of portions of'D Avenue between
18th and 30th Streets, was read. Moved by Fritzseconded by Bird,

.Estimate of city Engineer of quantities for the improvement
of portions of D Avenue between 18th and 30th Streets, was read,
and ordered filed.
.RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1421, for the improvement of
portions of D Avenue between 18th and 30th Streets, was read.
Moved by Fritz, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
%RESOLUTION NO. 1422 OF INTENTION to close portions of
1st Street from J to L Avenues, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded
by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
!RESOLUTION NO. 1423, Authorizing payment of bonded indebted-
ness due May 1, 1929, amounting to $225.00 was read. Moved by
Fritz, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried,
all Trustees present voting aye.

/Moved by Murray, seconded by Fritz, that the proper
officers be authorized to draw a warrant upon the General Fund
in favor of Hazel Risinger for $11.21 being refund on account of
error in making assessment for year 1928-29. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
(RESOLUTION NO. 1424, Approving and adopting the plans and
specifications for the paving of portions of P Avenue between 4th
and 18th Streets was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Murray,
that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present
voting aye.
;RESOLUTION NO. 1425, Directing the City Clerk to advertise
for sealed bids for the paving of portions of P Avenue between 4th
and 18th Streets, was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Murray,
that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present
voting aye.
,Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the City Attorney
be and he is hereby instructed to start opening proceedings to
open as a public street, a strip of land 40 feet wide adjoining
L Avenue on the East between the Southerly line of 18th Street
and a line drawn parallel thereto and distant 290 feet Southerly
therefrom. Carried.
.Communication from the League! of California Municipalities
regarding Building Code was read and laid over.
Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Board adjourn,
