Trustees present- Bird,Fritz, Murray, Addis. Trustee Cordingly absent. Minutes of regular meeting of September 17, 1929, read and approved. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .Mr. Waddell, representing the Highway LightHouse Company of New York City, was present regarding the erection of lighted standard precaution signals. Same was referred to the City Attorney. .The following bids received for the grading and other improvement of First Street, and L and J Avenue Terminations 23. were opened, won -mined and publicly declared, and referred to the City Engineer: BEN PEARCE CONTRACTING CO., INC. Portland Cement concrete curb, per lin. ft 600 Portland Cement concrete combination curb and gutter, per lin. ft 750 ,Communication from National City Chamber of Commerce expressing their appreciation of funds for booth at county'fair was read and ordered filed. •Communication from R. L.Parsons regarding obstructions in 7th Avenue was read and ordered filed. Communication from Edna W. Snook regarding establishment of a child hygiene division, was read and ordered filed. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the City pay the rent at 1839 7th Avenue, also for the water, gas and electricity for the quarters to be used for the child hygiene division. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. Report of the Recorder for month of September,1929, read and ordered filed. ,Petition of S. H. Rather to remove trees at 917 E. 18th Street, was read and referred to the Street Department. Report of -the City Engineer on bids for the grading and 24. other improvement of First Street and L and J Avenue Terminations, recommending acceptance of the bid of Ben Pearce Contracting Company, Inc., was read and ordered filed. (RESOLUTION OF AWARD NO. 1481, awarding the contract to Ben Pearce Contracting Co., Inc. for the grading and other im- provement of First Street and L and J Avenue -Terminations, -was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye'. ,Petition of property owners for the grading, etc. of portions of 17th Street and B Avenue, was read and ordered fi18d. ,Report of the City Engineer on the petition for the grading, etc. of portions of 17th Street and B Avenue, showing that.same represents approximately 28% of the frontage, was read and ordered filed. ,Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the City Attorney and City Engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specifications for the improvement of portions of 17th Street and B Avenue. Carried. ,Petition of Olof Nelson for extension of sixty days time for the completion of the improvement of D Avenue between 18th and 30th Streets, was read. RESOLUTION NO. 1482, Granting Olof Nelson extension of sixty days time for the completion of the improvement of D Avenue between 18th and 30th Streets, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present vot- ing aye. •Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that the City Clerk notify the Post Master of National City of the changing of the name of P Avenue to Palm Avenue, also to send carbon copies to San Diego Consolidated Gas & Electric Company, Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company, and Sweetwater Water Corporation. Carried. ,Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that the City Attorney be instructed to secure a search of record title of Palm Avenue and Fairmount Avenue. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. \ 25. ,RESOLUTION NO. 1483, requesting the Sweetwater Water Corporation to improve the condition of water for domestic purposes, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Board adjourn. Carried. ATTEST: City Clerk.
