Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees called to order
by the President. Trustees present- Bird, Cordingly, Fritz,
Murray and Addis.
Minutes of regular meeting of July 17, 1928, read and
approved.

Moved by Murray, seconded by Bird, that the bills be allowed
and warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
'Moved by Murray, seconded by Fritz, that the Hall up -stairs
be closed. Carried.
.Report of the City Marshal for months of May, June and July
1928 read and ordered filed.
.Report of the Recorder for month of July 1928 presented and
ordered filed.
.Communication from the City Marshal recommending the appoint-
ment of E. E. Baldwin as special police officer to serve without
compensation was read.
'Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that E. E. Baldwin
be appointed Deputy City Marshal to serve without compensation.
Carried.
.Report of the Fire Chief containing budget for the year 1928-
29 read and ordered filed.
.Petition of F. C. Johnston to have grade established at
corner of 20th Street and A Avenue, was read. Moved by Murray,
seconded by Bird, that the City Engineer be instructed to establish
the grade at A Avenue and 20th Street. Carried.
.Communication from Chamber of Commerce requesting an
appropriation for advertising purposes was read and ordered filed.
.Communication from the Planning Commission regarding air
map of National City and recommending the payment of $500.00 to
John F. Covert was read and ordered filed.
•Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the proper officers
draw a warrant upon the Planning Commission Fund in favor of
John F. Covert for $500.00. Carried,, all Trustees present voting
aye.
.Petition of R. L. Taber to exhibit motion picture for two
nights on vacant lot at 5th Avenue near church was read. Moved
by Cordingly, seconded by Murray, that the petition be granted.
Carried.

.Communication from Griffith Company requesting extension
of 90 days time for the completion of contract dated April 30,
1928, was read and ordered filed.
;RESOLUTION NO. 1294, Granting Griffith Company extension
of 90 days time for the paving of strip on Streets and Avenues
East of )First _1 Avenue and North of Tenth Street, was read.
Moved by Murray, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be
adopted. Carried,all Trustees present voting aye.
LODDINANCE NO. 587, Repealing Ordinances Nos. 525, 547,
552 and 570, establishing fire limits, was placed on final
passage and on motion by Bird, seconded by Murray, same adopted,
all Trustees present voting aye.
',ORDINANCE NO. 588, Amending Section 2 of Ordinance No. 569,
Creating Zone A, was placed on final passage and on motion by
Murray, seconded by Bird, same adopted, all Trustees present
voting aye.
ORDINANCE NO. 589, Establishing fire limits, was placed
on final passage and on motion by Fritz, seconded by Murray,
same adopted, all,Trustees present voting aye.
''RESOLUTION NO. 1295, Accepting work of Griffith Company
for paving of portions of 2nd and 4th Streets, Laurel, P and
D Avenues, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that
the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting
aye.
.RE50LUTION NO. 1296, Authorizing payment of Bonded Indebted-
ness due August 15, 1928, amounting to $3,625.00 was read.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be
adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
J.RESOLUTION NO. 1297, Establishing the grade of P Avenue
from the Northerly line of 4th Street to the Southerly line of
18th Street was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that
the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting
aye.
'.RESOLUTION NO. 1298, Directing notice inviting sealed

proposals for Lighting District No. 1, was read. Moved by
Murray, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all Trustees present voting -aye.
•The President of the Board informed the members that
it would be necessary to be present Monday, August 13, 1928,
at 10 o'clock A. M. to sit as a Board of Equalization.
Moved by Murray, seconded by Cordingly, that the Board
adjourn. Carried.
