Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees called to order
by the President. Trustees present- Addis, Bird, Cordingly,
Fritz, Murray.
Minutes of regular meeting of January 3, 1928, read and
approved.

Moved by Oordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the bills be allowed
and warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
•RESOLUTION NO. 1228, Granting permission to the Board of
Supervisors of the County of San Diego to assume full jurisdiction
for the grading and other improvement of Division Street from the
East line of Highland Avenue to Main Street was read. Moved by
Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried,
all Trustees present voting aye.

.Mr. Charles Stein submitted a proposition for opening
street between Highland and F Avenues. Same was referred to
the Planning Commission.
•Mr. H. F. Daily requested permission to top trees at
2nd Avenue and 15th Street. Moved by Bird, seconded by Addis,
that the request be granted. Carried.
•Petition of John F. M. Roehl to instal] gasoline storage
tanks on Santa Fe land at the foot of 17th Street was read.
Moved by Addis, seconded by Fritz, that the petition be granted,
work to be done under the supervision of the Fire Chief. Carried.
' .Petition of C. T. Short to install gasoline tanks in parking
on Lots 13 and 14, Block 52, was read. Moved by Cordingly,
seconded by Fritz, that the petition be granted, work to be done
under the supervision of the Fire Ch&ef. Carried.
.Resignation of Bernard W. Servatius, Street Superintendent,
effective immediately, was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by
Addis, that the resignation be accepted. Carried.
.Petition of property owners to pave the alleys in Block 1
Fleming's Subdivision was read and referred to the City Engineer.
.Trustee Bird requested that the alley between 5th and 6th
Streets and F and G Avenues be paved to be included with work to
be done in that district.
,Movved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the following notice
to property owners North of loth Street, East of 1st Avenue and
West of L Avenue wishing to have the alleys adjoining their
property paved will please have majority petition in the City
and
Engineer's office not later than Jan. 27, 1928, if same is
received, the work will be included with the proposed paving of
Streets North of loth Street, be published. Carried.
•Petition of Ted Orrell for position of Inspector of Concrete
pavement, was read and ordered filed.
.Petition of Mrs. Ellen Coan for refund of $5.00 deposit for
removal of one tree was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by
Addis, that the proper officers draw a warrant on the General
Fund in favor of Mrs. Ellen Coan for $5.00. Carried, all -

,Communication from E. L. May requesting refund of $20.00
deposit for removal of trees was read. Moved by Cordingly,
seconded by Addis, that the proper officers draw a warrant on
the General Fund in favor of E. L. May for $20.00. Carried, all
Trustees present voting aye.
/Petition of property owners for a street light at the
intersection of 4th Street and F Avenue was read and referred
to the Finance Committee.
. Reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for quarter
ending Dec. 31, 1927, presented and ordered filed.
• Report of the Fire Department for year ending Dec. 31, 1927,
presented and ordered filed.
,The Street Department was given further time regarding
improvement of East 8th Street.
• The Fire Department recommended increase of $10.00 per
month in salary of R.L.Amos and the City Attorney instructed
to prepare the necessary papers.
The Police Committee recommended no increase in salary
of H.T. McCue at the present time.
,Petition of W. B. Becker for Pool Hall License was referred
to the Police Department and returned with no recommendation.
.The Police Committee was given further time regarding the
complaint filed against Marshal Wright.
*ORDINANCE NO. 577, Creating the Department of Public Health
and Providing for the Appointment of Employees thereof, was
placed on final passage, and on motion by Cordingly, seconded by
Bird, same adopted, all Trustees present voting aye.
.ORDINANCE NO. , Regulating restaurants, etc. was re-
read and referred to the City Attorney.
:ORDINANCE NO. 578, Regulating the Slaughtering of Animals
and Providing for the Inspection, etc., was placed on final
passage, and on motion by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, same
adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees Bird, Cordingly,

▪ RESOLUTION NO. 1229, Repealing Resolution No. 1088
and creating the office of Traffic Policemen and Deputy Marshals
and fixing their salary was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded
by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
• Bonds of J. W. Gardner, W. G. Willis and Edward Rohde,
Master Plumbers, were presented. Moved by Bird, seconded by
Cordingly, that the Bonds be approved, accepted and ordered filed.
Carried.
• Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the City Clerk
be instructed to write Griffith Company regarding complaint of
property owners on 6th Street, A and K Avenues regarding their
failure to send out modified bills for the improvement of above
streets. Carried.
▪ The Fire Chief requested information as to the passage of
a Fire Cracker Ordinance.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Addis, that the Board
adjourn to Wednesday, Jan. 18, 1928, at 2 o'clock P.M. Carried.
