Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees called to order
by the City Clerk. Trustees present- Bird,Cordingly and Murray.
Trustees Addis and Fritz absent.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that Trustee Murray
act as President Pro Tem. Carried.
The minutes of the regular meeting of June 19, 1928, read
and approved.
The following bills, audited by a majority of the Finance
Committee, presented:

Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the bills be allowed
and warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
.Members of the Board of Library Trustees ere present and
gave the following statement showing what had been done during
the past year: Total volumes 9,262;
new books, 548; card holders,
1,656; balance of cash on hand last year, $1291.46; cash on hand

now, $1292.75; circulation 800 more than June a year ago;
total, 4, 555; circulation in children ' room June 1928, 1158;
for the same month in 1927, 798; also showed a smaller operating
expense than any Library in surrounding Cities.
.Communication from J. W. Coombe requesting refund of $5.00
deposit for removal of one tree at 608 D Avenue, was read and
referred to the Superintendent of Streets.
•Communication from L. A. Weisser regarding the purchase
of E* of 10 Acre Lot 6, i Section 154, was read and referred to
the Planning Commission.
.It now being the time set for hearing of appeals from the
warrant, assessment and diagram for the paving and other improve-
ment of Highland Avenue from Division to 30th Streets, same was
taken up and concluded.
'RESOLUTION NO. 1287, Sustaining certain appeals and denying
certain appeals, and correcting assessment for the paving and
other improvement of Highland Avenue from Division to 30th Streets
was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, thaj the Reso-
lution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
•Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the City Engineer'
inform Mrs. Waller that it will be necessary for her to pave and
otherwise improve the Southwest corner of the intersection of 22nd
Street and Highland Avenue within thirty days. Carried,
.Communication from the Mena Brotherhood of the Congregational
Church regarding the establishment of a public playground, was
read and ordered filed.
.Petition of-H. C. Plumb to remove two trees at 1840 Highland
Avenue, also requesting permission to install a gasoline tank
in the parking at 1840 Highland Avenue was.read. Moved by,Bird,
seconded by Cordingly, that the petition to install a gasoline -
tank in parking at 1840 Highland Avenue be granted, work to be
done under the supervision of the Fire Chief. Carried.
•Report of the City Marshal for month of June, 1928, was
read and ordered filed.

4r. R. Garrison was present complaining of the condition
of 2nd Avenue now being graded. Same was referred to the Super-
intendent of Streets.
.Report of the City Engineer on petition of property owners
to pave 1st Avenue full width from 14th to 16th Streets, was
read and ordered filed.
.Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the City
Engineer prepare plans and specifications for the paving of
1st Avenue full width from 14th to 16th Streets. Carried.
.Report of the Recorder for month of June, 1928, was read
and ordered filed.
;Annual report of the Library for year ending June 30,
1928, presented and ordered filed.
.ORDINANCE NO. , Repealing Ordinances No. 527, 547,
552 and 570, fire limits, was laid over.
.ORDINANCE NO. , Amending Section 2 of Ordinance
No. 569, Creating Zone A, etc., was laid over.
.ORDINANCE N0. , Establishing fire limits, etc., was
laid over.
RESOLUTION NO. 1288, Confirming assessment for National
City Lighting District No. 1 was read. Moved by Cordingly,
seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all
Trustees present voting aye.
,RESOLUTION N0. 1289, Ordtring Improvement, National City.
Lighting District No. 1, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded
by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Board
adjourn. Carried.
