Trustees present- Bird, Cordingly and Addis. Trustees Fritz and Murray absent. Minutes of regular meeting of July 3, 1928, read and approved. The following bills presented: Ruth M. Griffin 0. A. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. -Mr. Edwards of the Chrysler Agency was present asking if -something could not be done at the intersection of 4th Street and National Avenue. ,Mr. Ebbs, representative of the Road Committee of the National City Chamber of Commerce was present regarding opening of road from Division to 4th Street, connecting Fairmount or Euclid Avenue. 205. .It now being the time set for hearing of appeals in the matter of Assessment No. 53 for the construction of sidewalks on 2nd Street betweemHighland and Laurel Avenues, same was taken up and concluded. ;RESOLUTION NO. 1290, Confirming the Superintendent of Streets' Assessment No. 53 for construction of sidewalks on 2nd Street between Highland and Laurel Avenues, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,Communication from the Standard 0il Company of California stating that after June 23, 1928, gasoline and distillate would be billed at ij below the price in contract dated Dec. 20, 1927, was read and ordered filed. ,Petition of James A. Bird for an extra fifteen days leave of absence, effective Aug. 16 to Sept. 1, 1928, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the petition be granted. Carried. ,Petition of P. A. Knapp to construct sidewalk from property line to curb in front of Lots 1 to 5, Block 1, Reas Subdivision, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the petition be granted. Carried. 'Reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for quarter ending June 30, 1928, were presented and ordered filed. .Report of the City Clerk for year ending June 30, 1928, was presented. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the ' report be accepted and the City Clerk be instructed to have same published according to law. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .The Street Superintendent reported that he had taken care of 2nd Avenue at Mr. Garrison's property, also reported that the tree removed by Mr. J. W. Coombs at 608 D Avenue had been re- placed by another. ,Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the proper officials draw a warrant on the General Fund in favor of J. W. 206. Coombs for $5.00, same being refund of deposit for removal of one tree. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. Ordinances introduced June 19, 1928, were laid over. 4.RESOLUTION NO. 1291, Accepting Deed of Earl Ward and Wife for land for street purposes on L Avenue was read. Moved by Cord- ingly, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. Estimates of the City Engineer of work completed by Griffith Company under contracts dated April 30 and May 21, 1928, were read and ordered filed. ,RESOLUTION NO. 1292, Authorizing payment of 75% of work completed by Griffith Company under contract dated April 30, 1928, for the paving of portions of 9th and loth Streets, D and E Avenues with Portland cement, amounting to $10,487.41, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried,all Trustees present voting aye. 4RESOLUTION NO. 1293, Authorizing payment of 75% of work completed by Griffith Company under contract dated May 21, 1928, for the paving of portions of 2nd and 4th Streets, Laurel, P and D Avenues with Asphaltic concrete, amounting to $9,465.59, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the office of Deptty City Treasurer and Tax Collector is hereby created to commence Aug. 1, 1928, and that the salary of said officer is hereby fixed at $75.00 per month to be paid by warrant on the 1st avEcrd day of each calendar month drawn on the Sammy Fund. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that Mrs. Irene Wissink be and she is hereby appointed Dpputy Treasurer and Tax Collector, effective Aug. 1, 1928.
