Regular meeting of the
Board of Trustees called to order
by the President. Trustees present- Bird, Cordingly, Fritz,
Murray and Addis.
Minutes of regular meeting of May 15, 1928, read and
approved.

Moved by Murray, seconded by Fritz, that the bills be allowed

and warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
'Trustee Cordingly excused.
.Communication from the National City Library Board stating
the term of Dr. Theo. F. Johnson and Mrs. Ira Silver would ex-
pire June 30, 1928, and requesting their re -appointment was
read and laid over to the next meeting.
,Petition of J.W.Coombs to remove one tree at 608 DAvenue
was read. Moved by Murray, seconded by Fritz, that the petition
be granted. Carried.
,Petition of E.S.Potter to top trees at the Southeast corner
of 13th Street and 4th Avenue was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded
by Bird, that the petition be granted. Carried.
.Report of the Recorder for the month of May 1928, was
presented and ordered filed.
,Report of the Planning Commission recommending that the City
adopt the Building Code by reference, also recommending that
Highland Avenue from Division Street to 8th Street be made a
business district also to be included in the fire district,
and that the Southerly 10 feet of 1st Street between the center
line of J Avenue and the Westerly line of L Avenue be closed if'
deeds to the Northerly 30 feet of said street were obtained,
was read.
;The proposition of adthpting the Building Code was laid
over to the first meeting in August.
.Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the City Attorney
be instructed to amend Ordinances to make Highland Avenue a
business district from Division Street to 8th Street, also to
include same in the fire district. Carried.
.Petition of property owners requesting that a sewer dis-
trict including 1st, 2nd and 3rd Avenues South of 14th Street
be formed, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that
the City Engineer prepare plans and specifications for a sewer
system West of National Avenue. Carried.

,Petition of property owners requesting that 1st Avenue
between 14th and 16th Street be paved full width was read and
referred to the City Engineer.
.Appeals of Laura S. Rice, Isaac Rude and W.L.Lcasure
from the assessment for paving of Highland Avenue were read
and ordered filed.
,Bond of C.P.Hille, Sidewalk Builder, was presented.
Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the Bond be approved,
accepted and ordered filed. Carried.
rBond of J.O.Whitt, Master Plumber, was presented. Moved
by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the Bond be approved, accepted
and ordered filed. Carried.
:RESOLUTION NO. 1277, Appointing time and place for hearing
protests and directing Clerk to give notice of said hearing for
National City Lighting District No. 1 was read. Moved by Bird,
seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all
Trustees present voting aye.
RESOLUTION NO. 1278, Directing City Engineer to furnish
diagram for the construction of sidewalks on 2nd Street between
Highland and Laurel Avenues was read. Moved by Bird, seconded
by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
,RESOLUTION NO. 1279, Approving diagram of the City Engineer
for the construction of sidewalks on 2nd Street between Highland
and Laurel Avenues, was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Bird,
that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present
voting aye.
•RESOLUTION NO. 1280, Establishing the grade of P Avenue
from the Southerly line of 4th Street to the Northerly line of
18th Street was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that
the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting
aye.
J,RESOLUTION NO. 1281, Accepting Deed of Vesta A. Whicker and
Mae Waller for land for street purposes on 22nd Street was read.

Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
•ORDINANCE NO. , Amending Ordinance No. 278 and fixing
closing hour for pool halls was read. Moved by Murray, seconded
by Bird, that it be introduced and laid over under the rules
and according to law. Carried.
,ORDINANCE NO. , Amending Section 19 of Ordinance No.
530 regarding construction of sidewa3ks was read. Moved by
Murray, seconded by Bird, that it be introduced and laid over
under the rules and according to law. Carried.
'Appeal of T. LeRoy Richards from assessment for the paving
of Highland Avenue was read and ordered filed.
.Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that F.J. McKee be
appointed dog catcher at a salary of $4.00 per day and gasoline.
Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
•Moved by Bird, seconded by Murray, that Lloyd Lovell be
employed as extra man for the Police Department and furnish his
own motorcycle, gasoline, etc. at a salary of $6.00 per day.
Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
Moved by Fritz, seconded by Murray, that the Board adjourn.
Carried.
