Trustees present- Bird, Cordingly, Fritz, Addis. Trustee Murray absent. Minutes of regular meeting of November 7, 1928, read and approved. Moved by Bird, seconded by warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. •Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Sweetwater Water Corporation be instructed to install two fire hydrants on East 2nd Street, under the supervision of the Fire Chief, one about J Avenue, and one near L Avenue. Carried. .Representatives of the National City Chamber of Commerce were present regarding appropriation for advertising purposes. Same was referred to the Finance Committee. .Petition of G. J. Garcia to install gasoline pump on 19th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the petition be denied. Carried. Communication from Butterfield Construction Company asking for 60 day extension of time for the completion of contract of Library Insurance Dues-Pac.Bldg.Off. Con. Interpreter, Court Stamps St. Dept. 'RESOLUTION NO. 1356, Granting Butterfield Construction Company 60 day extension of time to complete contract of grading and other improvement of Streets and Avenues West of National Avenue and South of 13th Street, was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ORDINANCE NO. , Repealing Ordinance No. 549, fixing salary of City Recorder, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that it be introduced and laid over under the rules and according to law. Carried. ORDINANCE NO. , Amending Section 5 of Ordinance No. 540, fixing Salary of City Recorder at $150.00 per month, was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that it be introduced and laid over undeg the rules and according to law. Carried. .The following bids received for the paving of portions of 2nd Street between Highland and Laurel Avenues with Asphaltic concrete pavement, were opened, examined and publicly declared, and referred to the City Engineer: R.E. HAZARD CONTRACTING CO. Asphaltic concrete pavement, per sq. ft 14 8/10 cents GRIFFITH COMPANY Asphaltic concrete pavement, per sq. ft $0.125 BALBOA CONSTRUCTION COMPANY Asphaltic concrete pavement, per sq. ft 170 at now being the time set for hearing appeals in the matter of Assessment No. 55 for the grading and other improvement of Streets and Avenues West of National Avenue and South of 13th Street, same was taken up. After reading appeals, it was moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that the hearing be continued to Monday, November 26, 1928, at 8:00 o'clock P.M. Carried. • 237. .Report of the City Engineer on bids for paving of portions of 2nd Street between Highland and Laurel Avenues with Asphaltic concrete pavement, recommending acceptance of bid of Griffith Company, was read and ordered filed. RESOLUTION OF AWARD NO. 1357, awarding the contract to Griffith Company for paving of portions of 2nd Street between Highland and Laurel Avenues with Asphaltic concrete pavement, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
