Trustees present- Addis, Bird, Cordingly, Fritz and Murray. Minutes of regular meeting of July 19, 1927, read and approved. The following bills, audited presented: Arey-Jones Co. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .Mr. F. W. James was in property at Southwest present and requested permission to fill corner of National Avenue and 24th Street. .Budget for the National City Library for year ending July 1, 1928, amounting to $5528.90 was presented and ordered filed. ,Petition to close Alley between 28th and 30th Streets and Highland and I Avenues was read and ordered filed. 98. ,Mr. W. R. Clark, 26 E 2nd Street was present and requested that repairs be made to street. Same was referred to the Street Superintendent. ,Mr. R. W. Getty of the Schiefer Furniture Company was present asking that some relief be had from the odor from the Rendering Plant en the water front. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Bird, that the Board of Trustees and City Attorney meet with the County Dis- trict Attorney and see if steps could not be taken to abate the nuisance. Carried. ,Petition of property owners regarding the selling of peanuts on the streets was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Addis, that the City Attorney prepare an ordinance covering the selling of fruits, vegetables and merchandise and also removing obstructions from the sidewalks. Carried. .Petition of Geo. E. Miner to install gasoline storage tank at the Southwest corner of Highland Avenue and 8th Street, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Addis, that the petition be granted, work to be done under the supervision of the Fire Chief. Carried. ,Petition of F. W. James for refund of $40.00 deposited for removal of palm trees was read and referred to the Superintendent of Streets. ,Communication from Homeland Building Company with Deed for portion of 1st Street in Highland Park Subdivision was read and laid over to the next meeting. .Application of Ernest Hall for position as Motor Patrolman was read and ordered filed. ,Report of L. S. Everts & Co., Audittre, of Recorder's books from March 1926 to July 18, 1927, was read and ordered filed. .Report of the Recorder for month of July 1927 showing fines collected amounting to $1244.92, was presented and ordered filed. ',ORDINANCE NO. 570, Amending Section 1 0£ Ordinance No. 552, Establishing Fire Limits in the City, was placed on final passage, and on motion by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, same adopted, all 99. Trustees present voting aye. ,Estimate of the City Engineer of work completed from July 19, 1927 to date by Ben Pearce on paving of portions of 16th, 18th, 24th Streets and N Avenue was read and ordered filed. ,RESOLUTION NO. 1152, Approving estimate of City Engineer of work completed by Ben Pearce of paving of portions of l6th, 18th, 24th Streets and N Avenue and authorizing payment of 75%, amounting to $7,839.69 was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Addis, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,Report of the City Engineer, including plans, specifications, assessment diagram, etc. for Lighting District No. 1 was read and ordered filed. ,RESOLUTION NO. 1153, Appointing tithe and place for hearing protests, etc. for Lighting District No. 1 was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Addis, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,Moved by Addis, seconded by Fritz, that Dr. E. S. Coburn be appointed a member of the Planning Commission. Carried. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Board adjourn. Carried.
