Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. *Petition of the Magic Way Co. and the Homeland Building Company to close portions of 7th Avenue and 9th Street was read and referred to the Planning Commission. ,Protest of Adolph Levi & Son against the acceptance of the work of paving First Avenue was read and ordered filed. 'Communication from Lewis May regarding the language used by the City Marshal was read and referred to the Police Committee. ,Communication from King S. Heath requesting an extension of sixty days time to complete the contract on First Avenue was read. ;RESOLUTION NO. 1193, Granting an extension of sixty days time to King S. Heath for the paving and other improvement of portions of First Avenue, Main and Division Streets was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .Estimate of the City Engineer showing work completed by King S. Heath from Nov. 1 to Nov 15, 1927, amounting to 35,480 sq. ft., amounting to $5,410.70, showing amount now due him of $4,058.02, was read and ordered filed. •Report of the Recorder for month of November, 1927, showing fines collected amounting to $1,431.00 was presented and ordered filed. -Bill of the Elliott -Horne Company amounting to $508.70 for grading and other improvement of portions of D Avenue and 18th Street was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the bill be allowed and warrant ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. •The Finance Committee recommended that a street light be installed at the intersection of 18th Street and 5th Avenue. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that a 60 C.P. street light be installed at the intersection of 18th Street and 5th Avenue. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .Trustee Cordingly was given further time regarding the re- 132. leasing to the Board of Supervisors the right to construct'a sewer through portion of the City. .The Street Superintendent reported that as the streets were not graded, there was no way of draining at 21st Street and A Avenue. He also reported that he had cut off all water from 4th and 6th Streets and had cleaned the drain at 5th Street and B Avenue, but had not yet taken care of the drainage on 2nd Avenue between 10th and llth Streets. ,Communication from parties who had signed the protest against acceptance of the paving on portion of First Avenue, withdrawing all protest against work, was read and ordered filed. ,Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that 8 samples be taken from the pavement on First Avenue from Main to 14th Streets and 4 be sent to the Laboratory at Balboa Park and 4 to Berkeley for tests. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .The matter was referred to the City Engineer to find way to secure the samples. ORDINANCE NO. 574, An Ordinance amending Section 7 of Ordinance No. 540, increasing salary of the City Attorney $50.00 per month was placed on final passage, and on motion by Fritz, seconded by Addis, same adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees Addis, Fritz, Murray. Nays, Trustees Bird, Cordingly. ,ORDINANCE NO. 575, An Ordinance Amending Section 9 of Ordinance No. 540, increasing salary of the City Engineer $50.00 per month was placed on final passage, and on motion by Addis, seconded by Fritz, same adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees Addis, Fritz, Murray. Nays, Trustees Bird, Cordingly. RESOLUTION NO. 1194, Directing the City Engineer to furnish diagram for the grading and other improvement of portions of Sanitarium Avenue, 5th, 6th and 7th Streets was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. %RESOLUTION NO. 1195, Approving diagram of the City Engineer for the grading and other improvement of portions of Sanitarium 133. Avenue, 5th, 6th and 7th Streets was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolutiop be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .Communication from T.B. Penick & Sons requesting an extension of 30 days time for the grading and other improvement of D Avenue and 18th Street was read and ordered filed. :RESOLUTION NO. 1196, Granting T. B. Penick & Sons an extension of 30 days time for the completion of the grading and other improve- ment of portions of D Avenue and 18th Street was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. RESOLUTION NO. 1197, Ordering the closing of portions of First Avenue, 17th Street and the Alley in Block 18, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. -.RESOLUTION NO. 1198, Changing and Establishing the grade of certain Streets and Avenues West of National Avenue and South of Thirteenth Street was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. •ORDINANCE NO. , An Ordinance amending Sections 15, 25, 28 and 36 of Ordinance No. 538, an Ordinance Providing a system for levying, assessing and collecting City Taxes was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that it be introduced and laid over under the rules and according to law. Carried. ,Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the City Clerk be instructed to purchase metal shelving from the Metal Office Equipment Company at a cost of $69.75. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Addis, that the City Attorney and City Engineer be instructed to secure balance of Deeds on P Avenue. Carried. .The petition of the Magic Way Co. and the Homeland Building 134. Company to close portions of 7th Avenue and 9th Street was taken up. Moved by Addis, seconded by Cordingly, that the petition be denied. Carried. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Bird, that the Board adjourn. Carried.
