Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees called to order
by the President. Trustees present- Addis, Bird, Cordingly,
Fritz and Murray.
Minutes of regular meeting of December 6, 1927, read and
approved.
The following bills, audited by the Finance Committee,

Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the bills be allowed
and warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
,The proposition of installing new fire hydrants on Highland
Avenue was referred to the Fire Chief.
.Communication from Harry M. Wegeforth regarding the paving
of Harbison Street was read. The City Clerk was instructed to
write him saying that no action towards paving same had been taken.
Communication from T. A. Spencer regarding work on Highland
Avenue was read and ordered filed.
.Communication from the National City Library Trustees ex-
pressing thanks for the support given them in renovating Library
was read and ordered filed.
.Petition of F. S. Callender and Peter Huisveld requesting
permission to pave by private contract a nine foot strip with

oil macadam in front of their property was read and referred to
the City Engineer.
,Report of the City Engineer on tests made from samples of
pavement on First Avenue, accompanied by report of Smith -Eatery
Company of Los Angeles and the Operating Department of the City
of San Diego, was read and ordered filed.
.Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Addis, that the report of
the City Engineer and report of the tests be accepted and ordered
filed. Carried.
•Petition of Leslie E. Knapp for increase in salary to $200.00
per month was read and referred to the Police Committee.
.RESOLUTION NO. 1199, Overruling and denying remonstrance of
Adolph Levi & Son against acceptance of the work of paving of First
Avenue was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the

RESOLUTION NO. 1201, Approving estimate of the City Engineer
of work completed by King S. Heath under contract dated June 29,
1927, in paving portion of First Avenue and authorizing payment
of $4,058.02, was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Bird, that
the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
'RESOLUTION NO. 1202, Accepting work of paving portion of First
Avenue by King S. Heath under contract dated June 29, 1927, was read.
Moved by Bird, seconded by Addis, that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
?RESOLUTION N0. 1203, Directing the City Engineer to furnish
diagram for the paving and other improvement of portions of First
Avenue, Main and Division Streets was read. Moved by Cordingly,
seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all
Trustees present voting aye.
RESOLUTION NO. 1204, Approving diagram of the City Engineer
for the paving of portions of First Avenue, Main and Division

Streets was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that the
Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
,Petition of Burr H. Prentice to install two gasoline storage
tanks in parking strip at 2406 Highland Avenue was read. Moved
by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the petition be granted, work
to be done under the supervision of the Fire Chief. Carried.
,Communication from S. T. Bowman regarding condition of the
street at Twelfth Street and D Avenue was read and referred to the
Street Department.
,Appeal of T. W. Stahl and A. H. Jansen from the assessment,
warrant and diagram for the improvement of portions of D Avenue
and Eighteenth Street was read.
RESOLUTION NO. 1205, Setting time for hearing of appeal
from warrant assessment and diagram for the improvement of portions
of D Avenue and Eighteenth Street on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 1928 at 8
o'clock P.M. was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Addis, that the
Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
;ORDINANCE NO. 576, Amending Sections 15, 25, 28 and 36 of
Ordinance No. 538 for the Levying, Assessing and Collection of
City Taxes was placed on final passage, and on motion by Cordingly,
seconded by Bird, same adopted, all Trustees present voting aye.
.Trustee Cordingly reported that he did not consider it
advisable for the City to relinquish the right to the County
Board of Supervisors to construct sewer through portion of the City.
Was given further time regarding same.
.The Police Department was given further time regarding the
complaint of Lewis May.
•Report of the Planning Commission recommending the acceptance
of the Map of Mills Addition was read and ordered filed.
:RESOLUTION NO. 1206, Approving Map of Mills Addition in
4 Section 155, was read. Moved by•Bird, seconded by Fritz, that
the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting
aye.
RESOLUTION N0. 1207, Approving plans and specifications

for paving portions of Eighth Street and Highland Avenue was read.
Moved by Bird, seconded by Addis, that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
RESOLUTION NO. 1208, Directing the City Clerk to advertise
for bids for paving of portions of Eighth Street and Highland Avenue
was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution
be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
,RESOLUTION NO. 1209, Ordering the work of paving and other
improvement of Highland Avenue from Division Street to Thirtieth
Street was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Addis, that the
Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
,Communication from Lipscomb & Dutton requesting an extension
of sixty days time for the improvement of Sanitarium Avenue, Fifth
Sixth and Seventh Streets was read and ordered filed.
:RESOLUTION NO. 1210, Granting Lipscomb & Dutton an extension
of thirty days time to complete the grading and other improvement
of portions of Sanitarium Avenue, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Streets
was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that the Reso-
lution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
:RESOLUTION NO. 1211, Establishing the grade on portions
of Fifth, Second and West Avenues and Fourteenth, Fifteenth,
Nineteenth, Twentieth and Twenty-first Streets was read. Moved
by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
.Moved by Bird, seconded by Addis, that the City Clerk be
instructed to write a letter to the San Diego Fire Department
thanking them for their assistance at the fire at the National City
School. Carried.
Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Board adjourn.
Carried.
