Upper was read and re- ferred to the Police Committee. _ .Report of the Recorder for the month of August 1927 showing fines collected amounting to $1430.50 was presented and ordered f imed. ,ORDINANCE NO. , An Ordinance prohibiting the sale of merchandise, etc. and the obstruction of any streeti alley or sidewalk within the City was read and laid over. %Petition of property owners requesting that cebtain sections of the City be restricted to the white race both as owners and tenants was read and referred to the City Attorney. 107. ,Report of the City Engineer on the bids for the grading and other improvement of Sanitarium Avenue and portions of 5th, 6th and 7th streets, recommending the acceptance of the bid of Lipscomb & Dutton was read and ordered filed. %RESOLUTION OF AWARD NO. 1157, Awarding the contract for the grading and other improvement of Sanitarium Avenue and portions of 5th, 6th and 7th Streets to Lipscomb & Dutton, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ,Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz, that Resolution of Award No. 1157 for the grading and other improvement of Sanitarium Avenue and portions of 5th, 6th and 7th Streets be approved. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. 'Bond of A. 0. Reed, Master plumber, was presented. Moved by Addis, seconded by Bird, that the Bond be approved, accepted and ordered filed. Carried. ;RESOLUTION NO. 1158, Accepting Deed of Bank of Italy National Trust & Savings Association and Homeland Building Company for land for Atreet purposes was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye, ,Estimate of the City Engineer of work completed by Griffith Company for the paving of portions of 6th and 5th Streets was read and ordered filed. ':RESOLUTION NO. 1159, Approving estimate of the City Engineer and authorizing payment of 75% of work completed by Griffith Company for the paving of portions of 6th and 5th Streets amounting' to $7,567.76 was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Addis, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ;RESOLUTION NO. 1160, Accepting work of Griffith Company under contract dated June 27, 1927, for paving portions of 6th and 5th Streets was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. 108. ,Estimate of the City Engineer of work completed from Aug. 2, 1927, to date by Ben Pearce in paving portions of 16th, 18th, 24th Streets and N Avenue, was read and ordered filed. !RESOLUTION NO. 1161, Approving estimate of the City Engineer and authorizing payment of 75% to Ben Pearce for paving portions of l6th, 18th, 24th Streets and N Avenue, amounting to $4,212.94, was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Addis, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present eating aye. '!RESOLUTION NO. 1162, Directing the City Engineer to furnish diagram for the paving of portions of 6th Street, A and K Avenues was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the Reso- lution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. J ,RESOLUTION NO. 1163, Approving diagram of the City Engineer for the paving of portions of 6th Street, A and K Avenues was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. !RESOLUTION NO. 1164, Directing the City Engineer to furnish diagram for the Improvement of portions of 12th, 13th, 15th Streets, Highland, I and J Avenues, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. '.RESOLUTION NO. 1165, Directing the City Engineer to furnish diagram for the grading and other improvement of portions of 18th Street and D Avenue was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Addis, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ;RESOLUTION NO. 1166, Confirming the City Engineer's assessment for the lighting of portions of National Avenue and Eighth Street, was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Addis, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. J ,RESOLUTION NO. 1167, Authorizing payment of bonded indebtedness due Sept. 15, 1927, amounting to $9,660.00 was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. 109. ,ORDINANCE NO. , An Ordinance fixing the rate and levying the taxes for the fiscal year 1927-1928 was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Addis, that the Ordinance be introduced and laid over under the rules and according to law. Carried. iThe City Attorney was instructed to make an appointment with the District Attorney regarding the abatement of the nuisance on the waterfront. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the Board adjourn to Wednesday, Sept. 14, 1927, at 1:45 o'clock P.M. Carried.
