Carried. Communication from the San Diego Oi] Predicts Corpora- tion regarding the uurpina of garbage etc. was read and referred to the Health Deportment. .Resignation effective December 15, 1926 at 12:00 o'clock P. M. of J. J. LaPorte, traffic officer, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Addis that the resignation be .accepted. Carried. .Petition of C. W. Reed, traffic officer, for an increase of salary was read and referred to the Police Committee. ,Petition of F. W. James accompanied by a deposit of $25. 00 to remove five palm trees on East might, Street was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Frits that the netition be granted. Carried. Communication from F. 11. Names regarding surfacing of West Fifth Street was read and referred to the Street Depart- ment. .Petition of Ben S. .3o rs for license for two more card tables at 720 Bational Avenue was react. Post for a fire hydrant at Eighth Avenue and First Street was read and referred to the Fire Com- mittee. .Petition of l'oy F. Morrison for position as traffic officer was read and referred to the Police Committee. .Petition of property owners for work to be done on Eighteenth Street and Granger Avenue, also Twentieth Street from Granger to Lanoitan Avenue was read and referred to the Street Committee. .Petition of property owners on K Avenue requesting that same be narrowed to sixty feet f: om Eighteenth to Twenty- fourth Street was read and referred to the City Engineer. .Petition of Leslie Knapp for position as traffic officer was read and referred to the Police Committee. -Petition of property owners for street light at First 35. Avenue and Fourteenth Street was read and referred to the Finance Committee. .Fetition of broperty owners to have I Avenue made sixty feet from Eighteenth to Twenty-fourth Street a✓as read and re- ferred to the City Engineer. .Agreement of property owners to deed a portion of land thirty feet in width to make I Avenue sixty feet in width pro- vided that remaining portion of said I Avenue between Eighteenth and Twenty-fourth Street is made sixty feet was read and referred to the City Engineer. 'Bid of the San Diego Consolidated Gas & Electric Company to furnish electric current etc. for National City Lighting Dis- trict No. 1 for the period of one year to and including July 31st, 1927 for the sum of $1457.28 was read. ,RESOLUTION OF AWARD NO. 1086, awarding contract to the San Diego Consolidated Gas & Electric Company for the furnishing of electric current for Lighting District No. 1 was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird that the Resolution be adopted. Car- ried, all Trustees present voting aye. 'Report of the Recorder for the month of November, 1926, showing fines collected amounting to $1554.05 was read and order- ed filed. ,RESOLUTION NO. 1087 OF INTENTION to change and establish the grade of D Avenue from the Southerly line of Tenth Street to the Northerly line of Eighteenth Street was reaa. Moved by Addis, seconded by Bird that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly that the Street Superin- tendent be instructed to out in a retaining wall on Highland Ave- nue. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. 'Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly that the sum of $,1500.00 be transferred from the Engineering Fund to the General Fund and that the City Clark and the City Treasurer be instructed to make the necessary entries upon their records. Carried. .Moved by Bird, seconded by Fritz that the City Attorney be 36. instructed to drew the necessary papers to amend Ordinance No. 562 changing limits of parking on National Avenue from Fifth to Tenth Streets. Carried. iThe Police Committee recommended the appointment of Leslie Knapp as traffic officer and also an increase of $25.00 in sal- ary to C. W. Reed, both effective December 16, 1926. ,RESOLUTION NO. 1088 appointing traffic officers and fixing their salaries was read. Moved by Addis, seconded by Coraingly that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present votint. aye. ,Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz that a sixty candle power street light be installed at First Avenue and Fourteenth Street. ATTEST: Ci Lv Lle2' . City Cler . RESOLUTION NO. 1089 A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULT OF A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, ON DECEL ER 6th, 1926. WHEREAS, a Special Election vas held in the City of National City, California, on the 6th day of December, 1926, pursuant to Ordinance No. 564, duly passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of said City by more than a two-thirds vote, on the 3rd day of November, 1926, entitled: "An Ordinance Calling a Special Election to be held in the City of National City, California, on the 6th day of December, 1926, and Submit- ting to the Qualified Voters of said City a Proposition for the Incurring of Bonded In- debtedness in the Sum of $180,000.00, for the Acquisition of a Certain Municipal Improvement, and Designating the Election Precinct and Poll- ing Place, and Appointing Election Officers for such Special Election, and Fixing their Compen- sation." AND, WHEREAS, the said Special Election was held in said City on said day, and at said election the proposition mentioned in said Ordinance was voted on; and WHEREAS, the Election Board for said election has reported the result thereof to this Board of Trustees, and the returns thereof have been at a special meeting of said Board held for that purpose pursuant to statute and the call therefor issued by the President of said Board, on Monday, the 13th day of December, 1926, at the hour of 1:00 o'clock P. M. of said day, publicly opened, examined and canvassed, and the votes for and against the said proposition have been duly estimated, and the result thereof determined and established. NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Trustees of the City of 1. National City, California, hereby resolves, that the result of said election is, and is hereby declared to be as follows: The whole number of votes cast at said election was 848 on the proposition, which roads as follows: "Shall the City of National City incur a bonded indebtedness in the sum of 0180,000.00, for the acquisition,, construction and completion of a municipal improvement, to -wit: street work consisting of the paving of certain portions of certain streets and avenues in said City, all as set forth in the ordinance calling this election?" •That all of said votes were valid and legal votes, of which there were cast in favor of the proposition submitted at said electicn 6a1 votes; and against the proposition submitted at such election 207 votes. That the votes cast in favor of the proposition consti- tute more than two-thirds'of the votes of all voters voting at such special election. NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Trustees of the City of National City, California, do hereby declare that the proposi- tion submitted at said election, as hereinbefore more specif- ically set out, was carried by more than two-thirds of the votes of all the voters voting, at such special election, and as provided by law. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to certify the passage of this Resolution by the Board of Trustees of the City of National,City, California.
