Trustees present- Addis, Bird, Cordingly, Fritz and Murray. Minutes of regular meeting of Feb. 17, 1925, read and app roved. Carried. .-.Petition_ of R. T. Erickson to remove two Eucalyptus trees at 707 D Avenue, same accompanied by check for $10.00, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Addis, that the petition be granted. Carried. Petition of citizens for a street light at loth Street and B Avenue,aleo at 12th Street and B Avenue, was read and referred to the Street Committee. ,Petition of Catarino Marin to trim trees or. 2nd Avenue between 14th and 15th Streets was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the petition be granted. Carried. -Petition of the Atchison, Topeka & Company for a franchise for a single track necting with its main line at 13th Street erly along 9th Avenue to the North line of read and referred to the City Attorney and State 'Communication from the Railroad Santa Fe Railway railroad spur con - and to extend South- 19th Street, was City Engineer. Commission of the of California re -setting the hearing of application #10714 to Thursday, March 12th, 1925, at 10 o'clock A. M. was read and ordered filed. Petition of V. A. Olson for an extension of thirty days time for the completion of the work of sidewalk and curb upon portions of let Avenue, was read. :RESOLUTION NO. 978, Granting V. A. Olson thirty days extension of time in which to complete the work of constructing sidewalk and curb upon portions of let Avenue, was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. .Report of the Recorder for the month of February, 1925, presented and ordered filed. 154. v ,Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that a committee be appointed with power to act to investigate the proposition of renting the building on the corner of National Avenue and 9th Street. Motion lost by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees Bird and Cordingly. Noes, Trustees Addis, Fritz and Murray. Moved by Addis, seconded by Fritz, that the bids for remodeling the City Hall be returned to the bidders unopened. Carried. :RESOLUTION NO. 979, Ordering the Closing of the Alleys running Northeasterly and Southwesterly and Northwesterly and Southeasterly through Block 4 of National Avenue Terrace Sub- division, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Addis, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. !RESOLUTION NO. 980, Setting time for the hearing of the objection and protest against the closing of 19th Street between D and E Avenues was read. Moved by Bird, seconded by Addis, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. ;RESOLUTION NO. 981, Ordering the t+ork of grading and other improvement of 2nd Street from Highland Avenue to Laurel Avenue was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Addis, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. -ORDINANCE NO. Prescribing Conditions, Requirements and Regulations for Laying Out Tracts and Subdivisions of Lands within the City was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Bird, that it be introduced and laid over under the rules and accord- ing to law. Carried. -Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Addis, that the City Attor- ney be and he 1s hereby instructed tot to enter an appearance in that certain suit #43970 now pending to the Superior Court of San r Diego County, wherein the Board of Trustees of Sweetwater Union High School is Plaintiff and the City of National City is Defen- A dant, but to let judgment be taken therein by Plaintiff bn default. Carried. 155. ,Moved by Fritz, seconded by Addis, that the City Attorney be and he is hereby instructed not to enter an appearance in that certain suit #44341 now pending in the Superior Court of San Diego County, wherein Daisy B. Sholl is Plaintiff and the City of National City is Defendant, but to let judgment be taken therein by Plaintiff on default. Carried. .Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that Mr. Charles Stein be given permission to grade E Avenue between 18th and 19th Streets by private contract and to the official grade under the supervision of the City Engineer and Superinten- dent of Streets. Carried. ,The Police Committee recommended that the City Marshal be allowed an increase of $30.00 per month. Moved by Addis, seconded by Fritz, that the City Attorney be instructed to pre- pare an ordinance raising the salary of the City Marshal to e180.00 per month. Carried.
