Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees called to order
by the President. Trustees prevent- Addis, Bird, Cordingly,
Fritz and Murray.
Minutes of regular meeting of May 20, 1924, read and
approved.

Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the bills be allowed
and warrants ordered drawn for same. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
.Communication from T. LeRoy Richards regarding free mail
delivery in portions of the City was read and ordered filed.
,Communication from The National City News stating that they
could not continue to print the proceedings of the Board without
additional charge was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Addis,
that the action of this Board heretofore had and taken providing
that the City have the minutes of the Board of Trustees published
regularly in The National City Newe, and that the City pay there-
for $12.00 per calendar month, therefore be and the same is hereby
rescinded and annulled, and the Clerk of this City is hereby order-
ed and directed not to have said prooeedinge published hereafter

and not to draw any warrant or warrants in payment for the
publishing of said proceedings after this date. Carried.
•Communication from Mr. 0. P. Masters requesting an ex-
tension of title for the laying of sidewalk and curb on First
Avenue, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Addis,
that the City Engineer be instructed to extend the time
thirty days for the construction of sidewalk and curb on
Firet Avenue. Carried.
•Moved by Addis, seconded by Cordingly, that the City
Attorney be and he is hereby instructed to notify Adolph
Levi, Edgar B. Levi and H. G. Fenton that they must at once
either erect the necessary retaining wall to maintain and
support the natural surface of the land in the alley in
Blocks 15 and 16 according to Map No. 348 on file in the
office of the County Recorder of San Diego County, or fill
in the cut adjacent to the Easterly side of said alley in
said Blocks for the reason that by the deep cuts which said
Adolph Levi, Edgar B. Levi and H. G. Fenton have recently
made adjacent to said alley, the natural surface of same will
be deprived of its lateral support. Carried.
Communication from Dewey, Frederick and McCormick by F. J.
Thatcher, requesting permission to remove three large Eucalyp-
tus trees on 7th Street at the corner of National Avenue was
read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the request
be granted. Carried.
.Notice of hearing of applications Noe. 10108 and 10109
of the San Diego Electric Railway Company and the San Diego
and Coronado Ferry Company for permission to cancel -commutation:
tickets was read.and ordered filed.
-Communication from the Sooiedad Benefice Mexicana "Benito
Juarez' regarding rent of hall was read. Moved by Bird, seconded
by Addis, that the hall be rented to the petitioners for $5.00
per month, they to pay the lighting bill in excess of minimum.
Carried.

. Reports of Recorders for month of May, 1924, presented
and ordered filed.
-The matter of checking the Recorder's records *as
referred to the Finance Committee.
• Moved by Bird, seoonded by Addis, that the City Attorney
be instructed to prepare the necessary papers for a bond oleo-
tion for the purpose of purchasing fire equipment amounting to
$15,000.00. Carried.
-Moved by Cordingly, eeconded by Fritz, that the City
Attorney be instructed to amend the ordinance in regard to
pool hall license by licensing oard tables at 50# per month
for each table in pool hall. Carried.
.Bond of the Recorder was presented. Moved by Fritz,
seconded by Cordingly, that the Bond be approved, accepted
and ordered filed. Carried.
,Bond of A. 0. Reed, Master Plumber, was presented. Moved
by Fritz, seoonded by Addis, that the Bond be approved, accepted
and ordered filed. Carried.
4.RESOLUTION NO. 893, Ordering the Closing of Twenty-second
Street between the Westerly line of Eighth Avenue and Easterly
line of Ninth Avenue was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded
by Fritz, that the resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
RESOLUTION NO. 894, Appointing Deputy City Assessor for
month of June, 1924, was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded ,thy
Addis, that the resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
J.RESOLUTION NO. 895, Ordering the work of grading and other
improvement of portion of Sixteenth Street was read. Moved by
Fritz, seconded by Addis, that the resolution be adopted. Carried
all Trustees present voting aye.
'.RESOLUTION NO. 896 OF INTENTION to close alleys running
Northwesterly and Southeasterly through Blocks 61 to 71, 122
to 126, 136, and 135, excepting Northerly 25 feet of alley in
said Block 135, was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly,

that the resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present
voting aye.
-RESOLUTION NO. 897, Directing City Engineer to furnish
diagram for grading and other improvement of portions of B,
C and D Avenues was read. Moved by Cordingly, eeoonded by Addis,
that the resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present
voting aye.
'.RESOLUTION NO. 898, Approving diagram of City Engineer for
grading and other improvement of portions of B, C and D Avenues
was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Bird, that thexeeolution
be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
'IRESOLUTION NO. 899, Directing City Engineer to furnish
diagram for grading and other improvement of portion of K Avenue
was read. Moved by Addis, seconded by Fritz, that the resolution
be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
f,RRSOLUTION NO. 900, Approving diagram of City Engineer for
grading and other improvement of portion of K Avenue was read.
Moved by Bird, seconded by Cordingly, that the resolution be
adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
.ORDINANCE N0. , An Ordinanoe Repealing Ordinances
Noe. 496, 497, 507, 510, 513 and 537 of the City of National
City, California, and Fixing the Compensation and its Mode of
Payment of Certain Officers and Employees of said City was read.
Moved by Cordingly, eeoonded by Addis, that it be introduced and
laid over under the rules and accordinglto law. Carried.
Moved by Cordingly, eeoonded by Bird, that the Board ad-
journ. Carried.
