Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees called to
order by the President. Trustees present,— Edgerton, Fritz,
Murray and Boulette. Addis absent.
Minutes cf regular meeting of July 3, 1923 read and
approved.
The following bills, audited by a majority of the

Report of the City Clerk for the year ending June
30th, 1923, was presented. Moved by Edgerton, seconded
by Murray that the report be accepted and ordered filed,
and the City Clerk be instructed to have same published.
Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
Petition of C. 3.Ireland, City Engineer, for an
increase in salary, was read.
Petition of the Pioneer Trick Company for an extension
of six weeks time of the contract for the grading, etc. of
Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Streets, was read.
/ RESOLUTION NO. 817 Granting L.E.C.Smith permission to
install at his own expense a 6" sewer line in llth Street,
was read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Murray, that the
Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present
voting aye.
Protest of property owners against the grading of
A Avenue, was read and ordered filed.
RESOLUTION NO. 818 Granting the Pioneer Truck Company
an extension of forty days time was read. Moved by Fritz,,
seconded by Edgerton, that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
-Report of the City Engineer on bids for sidewalk and
curbing on portions of Ninth Street, and recommending that
the bid of V. A.Olson be accepted, was read.
/ RF$OLUTIOifi OF AWARD NO. 819 for construction of side-
walk and curbing on portions of ITinth Street, W4S read.
Moved by Edgerton, seconded by Fritz; that thie Resolution
be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.

of Award be approved. Carried, all Trustees present voting
aye.
J RESOLUTION NO. 820 Directing the City Engineer to fur-
nish diagram of property affected and benefited by paving

certain stripe on National Avenue, was read. Moved by
Fritz, seconded by Edgerton, that the Resolution be
adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
-ORDINANCE NO. , An Ordinance Fixing the Salary
of the City Engineer and repealing Ordinance No. 496, was
read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Murray, that it be
introduced and laid over tinder the rules and according to
law. Carried.
/ RESOLUTION NO. 821 Directing the City Attorney to
enter an appearance on behalf of the City in the suit now
pending in the Superior Court wherein G.Roberts and Blanche
P. Roberts are plaintiffs, was read. Moved by Fritz,
seconded by Edgerton, that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all T ristees present voting aye.
•Moved by Fritz, seconded by Murray, that the Deed of
George Roberts & Wife to the City, dated March 15th, 1923,
conveying certain land to the City for street purposes,
be and the same and the land therein conveyed are hereby
accepted by the City as a part of 28th Street and the
sane is hereby named 28th Street, and the City Clerk is
hereby directed to have the same recorded. Carried.
Moved by 7urray, seconded by Edgerton, that the
Board adjourn to Tuesday, July 31st, 1923 at 7:30 o'clock
P.M. Carried.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 822
A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULT OF A SPECIAL
ELECTION HELD IN: THE CITY OF UATIONAL CITY, CAL,-
IFORNIA, ON JULY 17TH, 1933.
OHEREASs a special eleotion was held in the City of
National City, California, on the 17th day of July, 1923,
pursuant to Ordinance No. 529, duly passed and adopted by
the Board of Trustees of said City by more than a two-thirds
vote, on the 12th day of June, 1923, untitled:
'An Ordinance Calling a Special Election to
be held in the City of National City, Cal.•
ifornia, on the 17th day of July, 1923, and
Submitting to the Qualified Voters of said
City Propositions for the incurring of Bonded
Indebtedness, and Deeignating the Election
PrAcinot and Polling Place, and Appointing
Election Officers for ouch 8peci Election,
and Fixing their Co:tpennation.'
AND, tHEREAS, the said special election was held in
said City on eaid day, and at said election each of the
propositions mentioned in said Ordinance was voted one and
?MEREAS, the Election Board for said election has
reported the result thereof to this Board of Trustees, and
the returns thereof have been at a regular adjourned meeting
of this Board of Trueteee held o0 the 3let day of July, 1923,
publioly opened, examined and oanvasoed, and the votes for
and against each of said propositions havo been duly esti-
mated, and the result thereof determined and'establiehed,
&ow,THEREPORE, the Board of Trueteoa of the City of
NatlOmil City, California, hereby resolves, that the result

the propositions submitted were 685

Proposition I was 665 Which proposition reads as

That all of said votes mere valid and legal votes, of
which thoro were oast in favor of said Proposition I sub-
mitted at said election 408 votes; and against said
Proposition I submitted at such election 257 vroten.
That the votes cast in favor of said Proposition I
submitted at said election did not constitute more than
two-thirds of the votes cast for and against said Propo-
sition I, and did not oonetitute two-thirds of the votes
of all voters voting at such special election.

submitted at said election did not constitute more than

Proposition III was, 664 , which proposition reads as
follows:

That all of paid votes wore valid and lea voted, of

mitted at said election 425 votes; and against said
Propooition III submitted at suoh election 239 votes. '
That the votes oast in favor of Paid Proposition III

two-thirds of the votes oaet for and against said Prop••
oition III, and did not Constitute two-thirde of the votes
of all voters voting at avoh special election.

which there were oast in favor of said Proposition IV sub-
mitted at said election 360 votes; and against said
Proposition IV submitted at euoh election 302 votes.

That the votes cast in favor of said Proposition IV
submitted tit said sleotion did not constitute more than
t*o-thirds of the votes east for and against said Propo-
sition TV, and did not constitute tco-thirdo of the votes
of all voters voting at suoh spacial election.
VOL TaingyoRE, the Boat of Trustees of the City of
National City, California, do hereby doolare that said
Propositions I, II, III and TV submitted at said election
and each and all of them as hereinbefore more specifically
set out failed to receive more than two-thirds of the votes
of all the votere voting at suoh special election and that
each of said propositions failed to receive two-thirds of
all tho votes of the voters voting for and against said
propositions at such special election.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that none of said propositions
submitted at such special clootion anrried.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed to certify the passage of this Resolution by the
Board of Trustees of the City of National City, California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Trustees of the City
of National City, California, this 3],st day of July, 1923,
by the following vote, to-crit:
AYES, TRUSTEES: Addis, Edgerton, Fritz, Murra, ,

NOES, TRUSTEES: None
ABSENT, TRUSTEES: None
