Carried, all Trustees present voting aye. Moved by Murray, seconded by Fritz that Messrs. E.Thelen and Ring S.Heath be given permission to pave the alley be- tween Lots 2,& 3 and 20 & 21 Thelen's Resubdivieion of Ten Acre Lot 1, Quarter Section 155, by private contract with three inch Bituminous Macadam Pavement under the supervision of the City Engineer and Superintendent of Streets and according to the specifications for the paving on 8th Street from the East City Limits to the West line of Quarter Sections 105 and 106. Carried. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Edgerton that the matter of refund for the grading of 7th Street be referred to the City Engineer to report on at the nest meeting. Carried. 21. � 'T C 1 t ( _3 Reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for the Quarter ending Sept. 30, 1923 presented and ordered filed. .Bid of the Pioneer Truck Company for the paving of 8th Street from the Easterly City Limits tothe Westerly line of Quarter Sections 105 and 106 was read: Three inch Bituminous Macadam Pavement, per square foot 104 Dents. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Murray that the bid be referred to the City Engineer. Carried. Petition of Mrs. A. Hoblit to build a lunch room on the North side of 18th Street West of Highland Avenue, was read. Moved by Murray, seoonded by Addis that it be referred to the Street Committee. Carried. ,Communioation from the Spreckels Brothers Commercial Company addressed to Mr. Harris, City Attorney, regarding location of factory, eto. was read and ordered filed. .Petition of property owners requesting the closing of 3rd Avenue from the South line of Division Street to the North line of 7th Street; 3rd Street from the West line of First Avenue to the Eaet line of 4th Avenue; and 5th Street from the West line of and Avenue to the East line of 4th Avenue. Also that a franchise for spur railroad line from the San Diego & Arizona Railroad Company at 7th Street and 6th Avenue to run on 7th Street and 3rd Avenue to a point on 3rd Avenue between Division and let Street, be_ granted, was read and referred to the City Attorney and City Engineer. 'Communication from E. F. Hollenbeck calling attention to the condition of 18th Street Eaet from the end of the -present pavement, was read and referred to the Street Committee. ,4 aa.47 The Finance Committee reported they could not recommend the removal of trees as requested by Mr. Summers and Grant Dalton. _Moved by Fritz, seconded by Edgerton that the Finance Committee devise some way of compelling property owners to replace trees removed.
