ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 18.62.070 (G) AND 18.62.190
(C) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO POLITICAL SIGNS.
The City Council of the City of National City does ordain as follows:
Section 1. That Section 18.62.070 (G) of the National City Municipal
Code is amended to read as follows:
G. Political signs shall be permitted in all zones, subject to the
following provisions;
1. No such sign shall be placed on the public right-of-way, or on
public property or structures. If a sign is placed on the public
right-of-way, or on public property or a public structure, the
Director of Public Works may serve a notice to remove the sign to
the person or entity responsible for placement of the sign, or on
whose behalf the sign was placed. If the sign is not removed
within 48 hours of service of the notice, the Director of Public
Works may remove the sign and assess a removal charge of $10 per
sign to the person or entity responsible for placement of the
sign, or on whose behalf the sign was placed.
2. No such sign shall be located within six hundred sixty feet of a
freeway, if designed to be viewed from the freeway.
3. All such signs may be posted a maximum of thirty (30) days
prior
to an election and seven days following an election. In no case
shall a sign be posted in excess of thirty-seven (37) days.
4. Political signs shall not exceed thirty-two square feet in size.
Section 2. That Section 18.62.190 (C) of the National City Municipal
Code is amended to read as follows:
C. Signs, bills, or posters on vacant or unimproved land are
prohibited in all zones, unless the sign exclusively specifies the
sale, lease, transfer or approved conditional use of the vacant
land. Political signs erected in conformance with Section
18.62.070 are excepted from this provision.

final passage or that the reading of said ordinance in full was dispensed
with by a vote of not less than a majority of the members elected to the
Council and that there was available for the consideration of each mem-
ber of the Council and the public prior to the day of its passage a written
or printed copy of said ordinance.
