AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
ANIEFIDING ORDINANCE NO. 1812 AND SF7C'PION 7.10.080 (INCLUDING
TABLE 1 THERETO) OF THE NATIONAL CITY MUNICIPAL CODE
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of National City as
follows:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 1812 and Section 7.10.080 of the
National City Municipal Code (including Table 1 thereto) are amended to
read as follows:
7.10.080 Enclosures required. A. All commercial, industrial,
institutional, and multi -family residential uses shall provide masonry
trash enclosures which shall comply with the trash enclosure design
guidelines shown on Table 1. The Planning Commission may waive this
requirement pursuant to a finding that the use does not generate a need for
exterior trash receptacles. Properties with trash receptacles having a
cumulative capacity of 60 gallons or less shall not be subject to this
requirement if suitable and sufficient containers as determined by the
Planning Director are provided in accordance with Section 7.10.040A of this
title.
B. Any building or structure or portion of building or structure
used for storage of rubbish and waste shall contain an approved floor drain
connected to the public sewer system.
Section 2. That this Ordinance is declarative of existing law and
intent and is intended to clarify said existing law and intent.

APPROVAL BY THE CITY.
LOCATION:
CONFLICTS WITH RESIDENTIAL AND PARKING SPACE SHALL BE AVOIDED. IF LOCATED ADJACENT AREA,
THE AREA IN FRONT OF REQUIRED ENCLOSURE OPENING SHALL BE CLEARLY MARKED "NO PARKING".
ALL ENCLOSURES SHALL BE LOCATED TO FACE THE EMPTYING OF BINS BY DISPOSAL SERVICE EQUIP—
MENT.• FOR MULTIPLE FAMILY USES, THE TRASH ENCLOSURE(S) SHALL BE LOCATED NOT MORE THAN
250 FEET FROM ANY UNIT.
CONSTRUCTION:
TRASH ENCLOSURES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF REINFORCED MASONRY WITH VIEW OBSCURING GATES AND
OF A HEIGHT SUFFICIENT TO CONCEAL THE CONTAINER USED. MINIMUM CONTAINER SIZE IS
30 GALLONS. SEE ILLUSTRATIONS HEREON.
NOTE :
THE ATTACHED DRAWING ILLUSTRATES THE BASIC CONSTRUCTION REQUIRED. THE MINIMUM SIZE SHOWN
MAY NOT ACCOMMODATE YOUR TRASH BIN, THEREFORE, THE OWNER MUST DETERMINE THE SIZE PRIOR TO
COMMENCING CONSTRUCTION.
Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of National City, California,
on 9-22-87 by the following vote, to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen Cooper, Dalla, Pruitt, VanDeventer, Waters
Nays: Councilmen None
Absent: Councilmen None
Abstain: Councilmen None

until seven calendar days had elapsed between the days of its introduction

I FURTHER CERTIFY THAT said ordinance was read in full prior to its
final passage or that the reading of said ordinance in full was dispensed
with by a vote of not less than a majority of the members elected to the
Council and that there was available for the consideration of each mem-
ber of the Council and the public prior to the day of its passage a written
or printed copy of said ordinance.
