ORDINANCE NO. 1272
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
ORDINANC>r: NO. 962 AND
ORDINANCE NO. 1213 TO
ALLOW LIQUID PETROLEUM
GAS DISeENS1NG FACILITIES
IN ALL ZONES WHEREIN
AUTOMOBILE SERtiICE
STATIONS AND GARAGES
ARE PERMPI`TED .
The City Council of the City
of National City, California,
does ORDAIN that Ordinance
No. 962 be amended to allow
Liquefied Petroleum Gases
dispensing facilities in all zones
wherein automobile service
stations are permitted and that
Ordinance No.1213 be amended
to read as follows:
SECTION 1.. There is hereby
added to Section I of Ordinance
No. 1.21.3 a new paragraph 3.
to read as follows:
3. "Liquefied petroleum gas"
(LPG) is any material which
is composed predominantly of
a n y of the following
hydrocarbons, or mixtures of
them: p r o pan e, propylene,
butanes (normal butane or iso-
butane), and butylenes.
SECTION 2. There is hereby
added to Ordinance No. 121.3 a
new Section III to read as
follows:
The installation and use of
storage and dispensing facilities
for the sale of liquefied
petroleum gases (LPG) may be
permitted as primary or ac-
cessory uses in any zone
wherein "service stations or
automotive or truck repair
garages" are allowed, subject
to the approval of a conditional
use permit therefor.
The installation and use of
storage and dispensing facilities
for the sale of Liquefied
Petroleum Gases shall comply
with the following provisions, in
addition to all other zoning
regulations and in addition to
all conditions of approval at-
tached to any conditional use
permit:
1. Installation and use of
storage and dispensing facilities
for the sale of Liquefied
Petroleum Gases shall conform
to the provisions of Volume 2
of the National Fire Code, and
to the provisions of the Unified
nr�cc»re Vessel. Safety Code of
vision of Industrial Safety
of the State of California.
2. The dispensing of LPG
shall be by a fully competent
and qualified person, who un-
derstands the properties of
these gases, and who is
thoroughly t r a i n e d in safe
prat tic e s for handling,
distribution, and operation.
3. LPG sales as a primary
use shall comply with all the
a p p l i c a b l e conditions of
automobile service stations
specified in Section II, above.
4. Accessory LPG sales shall
be allowed only as incidental
uses to permitted "service
stations" or "automotive or
truck repair garages" which
are otherwise in compliance
with all applicable Code
requirements.
5. The maximum permitted
size of LPG storage tanks shall
be determined by the Planning
Commission at the time of ap-
proval of any conditional use
permit, hereunder.
6. That LPG dispensing
facilities be a permanent in-
stallation.

8th day of June, 1971, by the
following; vote, to -wit:
AYES: Councilmen Camacho,
Hogue, Reid, Waters, Morgan.
NAYS: Councilmen None.
ABSENT: None.
