AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA,
ADOPTING THE UNIFORM HOUSING CODE, 1964 EDITION AND THE
APPENDIX THERETO, PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS GOVERNING
HAZARDS TO LIFE AND PROPERTY FROM SUBSTANDARD (RESIDENTIAL)
HOUSING CONDITIONS.
The City Council of the City of National City,
California, does Ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. There is hereby adopted by the City
Council of the City of National City for the purpose of pres-
cribing regulations governing hazards to life and property
from substandard (residential) housing conditions, that cer-
tain code known as the Uniform Housing Code published by the
International Conference of Building Officials, being parti-
cularly the 1964 Edition and the Appendix thereto, save and.
except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified.
or amended, or which code not less than three (3) copies have
been and now are on file in the office of the City Clerk of
the City of National City and the same are hereby adopted and
incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, and
from the date on which this ordinance shall take effect, the
provisions thereof shall be controlling within the limits of
the City of National City.
SECTION 2. Section H-201 (a) of the Uniform Housing
Code adopted by this Ordinance is hereby deleted. A new sec-
tion is hereby addedto readas follows:
Section H-201 (a) Authority.
There is hereby established within the Building
Inspection Department, a Bureau of Housing which is hereby
authorized anddirectedto administer and enforce all of the
provisions of this code, andwhich shall be operated under
the supervision of the Chief Building Inspector.
SECTION 3. Footnote 3 of Section H-302 and. Section
H-303 of the Uniform Housing Code adoptedby this Ordinance is
hereby deleted in its entirety.
SECTION 4. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm,
or corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move,
improve, remove, convert, or demolish, equip, use, occupy, or
maintain any building or structure in the city, or cause or per-
mit the same to be done, contrary to or in violation of any of
the provisions of this Code.
Any person, firm, or corporation violating any of
the provisions of this Code shall be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor, and shall be guilty of a separate offense for each
and every d.ay or portion hereof during which any violation
of any of the provisions of this Code is committed, continued.,
or permitted, and upon conviction of any such violation such
person shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $500.00,
or by imprisonment for not more than 180 days, or by both such
fine and imprisonment.
