ORDINANCE NO. 157
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NA-
TIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, ES-
TABLISHING ROUTES FOR ALL
MOTOR VEHICLES EXCEEDING A
MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT OF SIX
THOUSAND (0000) POUNDS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF
NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA,
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The following streets
are hereby designated as traffic routes
for the movement of motor vehicles
exceeding a maximum gross weight of
6000 pounds:
I. MAIN STREET from the north
boundary of City of National City
to the easterly line of Roosevelt
Avenue.
2. ROOSEVELT AVENUE from the
southerly line of Main Street to its
intersection with West Avenue and
thereafter continuing on West Ave-
nue to West Avenue's intersec-
tion with National Avenue.
3. NATIONAL AVENUE from the
north line of I8th Street to the
southerly boundary line of City of
National City.
SECTION 2: All motor vehicles ex-
ceeding a maximum gross weight of
6000 pounds are hereby prohibited
from using all other streets within said
City, excepting commercial vehicles
using any such street by direct route
to and from the through routes for
the movement of motor vehicles of
more than 6000 pounds specified in
Section 1 of this Ordinance, for the
purpose of delivering or loading for
transportation goods. wares or mer-
chandise, and also excepting any
vehicle which is subject to the pro-
visions of Section 50!4 of the Public
Utilities Act, and also excepting any
vehicle owned by a public utility
while necessarily in use in the con-
struction, Installation or repair of any
public utility.
SECTION 3: Appropriate signs in-
dicating the through traffic routes
prescribed in Section 1 of this Ordi-
nance shall be erected by order of the
City Manager of City at such points
as may be designated by the Chief of
Police as being best to serve notice
of such routes, and thereafter it shall
be the duty of the Superintendent of
Streets to see that said signs indicat-
ing such through traffic routes will
best serve notice of this Ordinance.
SECTION 4: Any person, firm or
corporation violating any of the pro-
visions of this Ordinance shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and
upon conviction thereof shall be pun-
ished by a fine of not more than Five
Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or by im-
prisonment of not to exceed six (6)
months, or by both such tine and such
imprisonment.
SECTION 5: That all ordinances or
parts of ordinances in conflict with
this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6: This ordinance shall
take effect and be in force on and
after the thirty-first day from and
after its final passage.
SECTION 7: Before the expiration
of fifteen days after its passage, the
City Clerk of City of National City
shall cause this ordinance to be pub-
lished once in the National City News,
a newspaper of weekly circulation, ' ,}
printed and published in City of Na-
tional City, California. \�c_�

ruary, 1954, by the following vote, to -
wit:
AYES: Councilmen Campbell, Moe-
ser, Parchen, Sarn.
NAYS: Councilmen None.
ABSENT: None.
