ORDINANCE NO. 836
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 762
BY AMENDING SECTION 3 OF
SAID ORDINANCE AND REPEAL-
ING SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE
NO. 769 AND REPEALING ORDI-
NANCE NO. 818.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA,
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That SECTION 2 of Or-
dinance No. 769 is hereby repealed.
-CTION 2. That SECTION 3 of Or-
d.. ..ice No. 762 is hereby amended to
read as folows:
SECTION 3.
(A) It shall be unlawful for any per-
son:
(1) To place. deposit or maintain
any container for garbage for
the purpose of collection of
such garbage unless said con-
tainer is made of metal, with
metal handles and covers and
which are water -tight and fly -
tight and which shall have a
capacity of not less than two
and one-half (219) gallons nor
more than ten (10) gallons, ex-
cept containers for commercial
enterprises which containers
shall be not more than eighteen
(19i gallons capacity:
(2) To commingle garbage with
paper. cans, glass, razor blades
or any rubbish whatsoever.
(B) That all garbage shall be placed
in a container for garbage as in
this ordinance defined.
(C) That al: garbage containers must
be thoroughly cleaned after each
collection.
(D) That it shall be unlawful for
any person to place, deposit or
maintain any container for rubbish
for the purpose of collection of
such rubbish unless said container
shall conform to the following
specifications:
(1) Containers shall be made of
either metal or water -proof
wood, or water -proof fiber
composition, except for rec-
tangular wooden containers as
specifically described below.
(2) Containers shall be in the form
of truncated cones or cylinders,
preferably the former.
(3) Capacity of containers shall not
exceed 45 gallons.
(4) The maximum weight of empty
containers shall not exceed 25
ponds.
(5) The maximum weight of load-
ed containers shall not exceed
80 pounds.
(6) The interior surface of the con-
tainers shall be smooth and
they shall have no exterior pro-
jection which interferes with
the emptying of the containers.
(7) Rectangular wooden containers
not exceeding 214 cubic feet ca-
pacity andior metal wash tubs
may also be used as rubbish
containers.
(8) Containers which do not com-
ply with the requirements as
stipulated herein, or which de-
teriorate to the point where
they do not comply will be
tagged and will be considered
as rubbish and removed as rub-
bish if not replaced by the next
regular collection day.
(E) That all rubbish shall be placed
in a container for rubbish as in
this ordinance defined unless said
rubbish is tied in bundles, tightly
bound at each end, and not to ex-
ceed four (4) feet in length nor
forty (40) pounds in weight.
(F) That all paper cartons and wood-
en boxes shall be broken up and
tied in bundles in accordance with
SECTION 3(E).
SECTION 3. That ORDINANCE NO.
818, passed and adopted the 19th day
of June. 1951, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall
take effect and be in force on the 31st
day from and after its final passage.
SECTION 5. That, before the expir-
ation of 15 days after its passage, the
City Clerk of the City of National City,
California, shall cause this ordinance
to be published once in the National
City News, a newspaper of weekly cir-
culation, printed and published in the
City of National City. California.

Council of the City of National City,
California, this 5th day of August, 1952,
by the following vote, to -wit:
AYES: Councilmen McClure, Sarn.
Carrigan.
NAYS: Councilmen None.
ABSENT: Hart, Ingalls.
