HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC ORD 1946-729 Planning commission, repeals Ord. 582 (2.28)729 ORDINANCE NO. 729 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, CREATING A PLANNING CO' -VI - MISSION AND REPEALING OR- DINAiNCE NO 582 OF THE OR- DINANCES OF SAID CITY AND PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINT- MIENT OF THE MEMBERS OF SAID COMMISSION AND FIXING THEIR TERM OF OFFICE. The City Council of the City of National City does ordain as follows: SECTION 1: That Ordinance No. 582 of the ordinances of the City cf National City, California, is here- by repealed and all ordinances re- pealed by Ordinance No. 582 are repealed. SECTION 2: That the Planning Commission of the City of National City is hereby created to consist of seven (7) members to be appointed by the mayor of said city with the approval of the City Council. SECTION 3: That the terms of office of the members of the Plan- ning Commission first appointed shall be as fohows: Two members shall be appointed for a term of one (1) year; two members shall be appoint- ed for a term of two (2) years; two members shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years; one member shall be appointed for a term of four (4) years. The successors of the members of the Planning Commission first ap- pointed shall be appointed for terms of four (4) years. If a vacancy shall occur otherwise than by expiration of term, such vacancy shall be filled by appoint- ment for the unexpired portion of the said term. SECTION 4: That said Planning Commission shall elect itschairman, from among the appointed members, for one (1) year and, subject to the provisions of law, may create and fill such other offices as they may determine. The City Council shall provide such secretarial assistance as it, the City Council, shall deem necessary. SECTION 5: That the Planning Commission shall hold at least one (1) regular meeting in each month and shall adopt rules for the trans- action of business and shall keep a record of its resolutions, transactions, findings and determinations, which record shall be a public record. SECTION 6: The members of said Planning Commission shall serve without compensation. SECTION 7: That the City At- torney and the City Engineer of the City of National City shall be ad- visory members of said Planning Commission and shall be without power to vote on any matters sub- mitted to said Planning Commission. SECTION 8: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect on the 31st day after date of final pas- sage. SECTION 9: The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish this or- dinance once in the National City News, a newspaper of weekly circu- lation, printed and published in the City of National City, California. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of National City, California, this 17th day of December, 1946, by the following vote, to -wit: AYES; Councilmen Adams, Cord- ingly, Newberry, Thatcher, Fritz.
