HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC ORD 1947-733 Datum lines, repeals Ord. 8, 18, 76, 105, 346, 407, 438, 472 and 505 (Repealed by 1366)733 ORDINANCE NO. 733 AN ORDINANCE FIXING A DATUM LINE: ESTABLISHINGr A PRIMAL BENCH MARK: PROVIDING THAT ALL OFFICIAL GRADES SHALL BE DESCRIBED WITH REFERENCE TO SAID OFFICIAL DATUM LINE: ESTABLISHING CURB ELEVATIONS AND GUT- TER DEPTHS AND FIXING THE WIDTH OF SIDEWALKS IN THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALI- FORNIA, AND REPEALING OR- DINANCES NOS. 8, 18, 76, 105, 346, 407, 438, 472 and 505 OF SAII/ CITY. The City Council of the City of Na- tional City, California, do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 8 of the City of National City, Cali- fornia, adopted on October 5, 1887; Ordinance No. 18 of said City, adopted November 16, 1887; Ordinance No. 76 of said City, adopted July 2, 1891; Ordinance No. 105 of said City, adopt- ed January 25, 1893; Ordinance No. 346 of said City, adopted January 17, 1911; Ordinance No. 407 of said City, adopted March 4, 1913; Ordinance No. 438 of said City, adopted October 20, 1914; Ordinance No. 472 of said City adopted May 22, 1917; and Ordinance No. 505 of said City adopted Novem- ber 3, 1920, be and each and all of said Ordinances are hereby repealed. SECTION 2. That a datum line, as a basis for the establishment of street grades in said City, is hereby fixed at mean low tide of the Pacific Ocean. SECTION 3. That the Brass Plate in the walk near 9th Street and "E" Avenue at the entrance to the South building of the Central Grammar School, placed by the United States Geological Survey, in the year 1903, is hereby declared to be the Primal bench mark of said City of National City; and the elevation thereof above said line of mean low tide is hereby declared to be fifty-seven and ninety- one hundredths (67.91) feet. SECTION 4. That all official grades and elevations hereafter established in the City of National City, Califor- nia, shall be described with reference to their elevations as compared with said official datum line, in feet and decimal parts of a foot. SECTION 5. That the curb eleva- tion as used in this Ordinance shall mean the elevation of the top of the curb at its face and shall be determin- ed by allowing a uniform downward slope of one -quarter of one inch for each foot of distance measuring from the property line to the face of the curb on the same side of the street. The gutter depth on all streets below the adjacent curb elevation shall be seven -tenths of one foot. SECTION 6. That the sidewalks on 11 streets and avenues in said City (o West of National Avenue, except N Cleveland Avenue and Twenty -Fourth N. Street, shall be fourteen feet in width; that the sidewalks on Cleveland Ave- nue and Twenty -Fourth Street West .. of said National Avenue shall be a twenty feet in width; that the side- walks on National Avenue from the fj Northerly City Limits to the South- erly City Limits shall be fourteen feet �3Oin width, That the width of the side- `4, on all streets and avenues in said City East of National Avenue shall be as follows: The sidewalks on all streets eighty feet wide shall be sixteen feet in width, except on the following streets between the following points: The sidewalks on Second Street from the Easterly line of National Avenue to the Westerly line of Highland Avenue shallC-iY'�G be twenty feet in width; the side- walks on Eighth Street from the East- erly line of National Avenue to the Easterly City Limits shall be fourteen feet in width; the sidewalks on Twelfth Street from the Easterly line of Na- tional Avenue to the Westerly line of "D" Avenue shall be ten feet in width; the sidewalks on Twenty -Fourth Street from the Easterly line of Na- tional Avenue to the Westerly line of Palm Avenue shall be twenty feet in width; the sidewalks on Highland Avenue from the Southerly line of Twenty -Fourth Street to the North- erly line of Thirtieth Street shall be twenty feet in width; the sidewalks on "K" Avenue from the Southerly line of Fourth Street to the Northerly line of Eighth Street shall be twenty- four feet in width; The sidewalks on "N" Avenue from the Southerly line of Eighteenth Street to the Northerly line of Twenty -Fourth Street shall be twenty feet in width; The sidewalks on all streets sixty feet wide shall be fourteen feet in width; The sidewalks on all street fifty feet wide or less shall be five feet in width. SECTION 7. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to cause this ordin- ance to be published once in the Na- tional City News, a newspaper print- ed and published weekly in said City, and of general circulation therein. SECTION 8. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 9. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force on the 31st day after the date of its fi- nal passage. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of National City, California, this 20th day of May,. 1947, by the following vote, to -wit: AYES: Councilmen Adams, Cord- ingly, Newberry, Thatcher, Fritz.
